Hey, Albacore Tuna Capt....What was the Boyd's radio callsign? We were in the Gulf Feb. thru July '68 and our callsign was Eaglerunner. Did I ever talk to you?

Edit: Oh yeah, for 2 months of that time we used the callsign "Triple Threat" and were on station 5 miles NE of the DMZ.

Well I guess I'm a vet for at least another couple months.

I'm currently in the process of joining back up depending on what orders I'm offered. The first time around I was an IS2 on the USS Constellation (CV-64) from 94-97. If I get the orders I'm looking for and they let me rejoin as a 3rd class, I hope to be back in Aug/Sep time frame. TPU in Bremerton then back to the fleet.

I was at sea for the gulf war, we were within range and on alert, but alas I was not in the "combat zone" so I am really not considered a gulf war vet. It's not my fault the Iraqis don't have any weapons with a 5000 mile range.

There are two types are ships.....

Damn proud of my service, my father's service in Vietnam, grandfather's in WWII, and great grandfather in WWI.

I almost wish there was a conscription service so that everyone that has the advantages that we do in life knew what sacrifices have been made for them. Not necessarily a military service, but maybe a job corps style, working on our country.

Sgt, Oregon National Guard, 1987-1995
Combat Medic, 2/162 INF

Two brothers and a brother-in-law currently active duty. The two brothers I talked into it!
Named NCO of the year for my battalion once. Quite a feat for a medic in an infantry battalion! The cool thing about being a medic was they needed one for every life fire exercise. Guess who volunteered??? I got to fire lots of stuff! But that was merely my own enjoyment. My brother-in-law, now he's the hero of the family. He's been everywhere, Columbia, Honduras, Panama, Kosovo, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and that's just the stuff we've been able to figure out or he could tell us. Next time you have a beer, toast him please! And my sister, for enduring the absences over all those years.
