WTG Jen, the first 2 minutes are the worst. Keep it together for 120 seconds, and the urge will pass.

Keep your mind busy, think about the standup rod buckling, and the reel singing.

I am pulling for you!!

Peace, Tom

Hang in there PM, the alternative is death by suffering.

I quit last year and it's not easy but my kids need a daddy.

Chew on straws, toothpicks, your chair, whatever you gotta do!

Doing good Jen. I graduated from my smoking program yesterday so I don't have to drive 40 miles each way to be verbally abused anymore.

Funny.... all my urges are nothing more than a mental picture of enjoying a smoke. Very brief. I hope it is at least that easy for you.

Thanks all. Corrirod, the biggest bummer is NO TEQUILA  - at least while I'm taking zyban (both are processed by the liver). Probably a good thing because I'd no sooner have that sip of Hornitos, and I'd be wantin' a smoke to go with it.

AuntyM: Good for you girl! Yup, I have the same thing going on here. I keep thinking, "I'll get up, stretch my legs and have a smoke.. Oh, wait, I don't smoke!"

Ladies, we're pulling for you!

A tip: When I quit, I stayed vigilant about the situations and times when I knew I would want/need a smoke. When I saw myself drawn into one of those instances, I would be aware (and wary) and prep myself to ward it off by saying to myself, "I know I'm gonna want a smoke, but I'm not gonna fall for it." Sorta like keeping from being blind-sided.

Yeah, I smoked. Lucky Strikes - a pack or more a day, and I bought cigars by the box. I quit 25 years ago, and so can you.

PM,

Congrats and best of luck to you. Been there, done that. Just keep in mind all of the postive things in life that you want to enjoy for a long time with the quality of life they deserve.

My job is a CT/MRI Tech and I see every day the ravages that smoking can do to both the patients and their families. With so much noncontributory illness out there, it ALWAYS breaks my heart to see something that could have possibly been avoided.

I am praying for your strength of will so that someday you can teach me how to catch a feakin' tuna.

Birdnest, CATCHING tuna is no magic. Finding them, on the other hand... well, let's just say it helps to have the Fish Whisperer and the ocean on your side OH! and you gotta get in the right boat
