Default Michael Kelly

Syndicated columnist Michael Kelly was killed in Iraq yesterday :depressed: ...apparently his HumVee went into an irrigation canal upside-down and he and his driver drowned.

Mr.Kelly was an extremely talented and gifted writer with the ability to cut thru BS and draw common sense conclusions. His columns appeared in the Oregonian and Register-Guard. He was my favorite political columnist and will definitely be missed. :depressed:

I shared many of Kelly's opinions...and we had exchanged occasional e-mail messages... :depressed:

Why Kelly? Why not Geraldo? :depressed: :depressed: :depressed:

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I'll second that. I about jumped out of my skin the other night when I switched over to Fox and saw that sensationalist muckraker embedded with the 101st. Thankfully they yanked him a couple of days later. Now he's in Kuwait.

I feel badly for Mrs. Kelly and their 3 kids. He didn't have to go to Iraq, but he felt that was where he was needed.
A great loss. :depressed:

Mr. Kelly's death was a terrible loss, I wish his family the best in their time of loss.

I wasn't familliar with Mr. Kelly but seen how he was highly respected on several news stations.

Sounds like he was a good family man and reported with balanced and common sense. Too bad for the loss, seems like a rare find these days.

But, if I had the power, I wouldn't hesitate one second to switch things around and have Michael Kelly, a highly regarded syndicated prize-winning reporter and political commentator, still with us and Geraldo, a relatively worthless TV hack who compromised our troop's security, upside down beneath the HumVee in the canal.

I know, I know.......

But if you think about how it affects ANYBODY'S family to lose a son or a brother or a father, you can see it's not a joking matter. Wasn't trying to bust your chops, but family tragedies can't be measured in terms of professional accomplishments.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Kelly.
