Default What's your lucky fishing attire

I know it's sounds strange but I have an outfit that I almost always wear in the winter and spring fishing. I have strayed every now and then when my wife starts making fun of me and says I look like a bum but I always don't seem to catch as many fish as I would normally.

When I sturgeon fish, my lucky "go to" fishing clothes is some old grey sweat pants, my trusty "TackleBuster fishing the coast" sweatshirt, tan/olive sleeveless vest, and my Columbia River Sturgeon cap. My wife hates being seen in public with me but you just can't argue with results.

My Urb attire is some shorts, tank top, sandles, and my "Bite Me" cap I got two years ago in Alaska.

My ocean attire is the cool suit I bought from Captain Kujo.

My wife wears make up, jeans, etc. but not me. I love the "couch potato" look whe I'm fishing and don't really care about spending all the cabbage for the preppy looking tan Columbia Sportsman slacks with the zip away legs and the fleece shirts and so forth and so on. She got me a couple of sets of those things for Christmas and I look like a with all that fancy smancy junk on.

Just give me about thirty dollars worth of sweat pants, a couple of sweatshirts, a good ball cap that fits just right, and magic happens.

So, what's in your closet...........

Funny you mention this TB. I was just talking about this with a friend the other day @ work!

I pretty much stick to the same outfit for every fishing occasion! I have a gray sweatshirt that has holes in the sleeves, body, and hood...but it catches fish like you wouldn't believe Well...except springers To compliment the sweatshirt, I always have on either my lucky Dodgers hat or my lucky Tommy hat. The Dodgers hat has the most mojo on it, seeing as it has not been washed in 4 years (i'm too afraid to wash it  ) To top it all off, i'm usually wearing my 8" Wolverines. These boots are so dang comfy you'd think you were wearing tennies!! That's my lucky fishing get-up!

It's hilarious the extent we go to just for a fish or two

I have a solid blue flannel that i have been wearing for the past 14 years. It is getting kind of beat up but it still does the trick. One of my friends even asked to borrow it to go fishing at bouy 10 2 years ago and he pulled out a 37 lb king. It has always done the trick for me. I even will take it in the car with me sometimes in the summer.

The clothes I was wearing when I fell off the dock at Warrenton then limited out! Darn it, it sucks to have to jump in every time I go fishing now!

Well I would have to say my "Maine" aqua colored sweatshirt is the garment of choice. But the really lucky item is an old felt black cowboy hat, an Eddie I believe, that I just can't seem to retire. In the summer I revert to an old straw hat that is about as attractive.

Nice thread! I dress in the same stuff pretty much unless the temp breaks 75. pjs under the lucky/dirty jeans under the water-resistant pant things that actually leak as the day progresses. Top = ratty t shirt, thick sweatshirt, fleece hoodie, hat= bright red Tuba-Christmas beanie. I look the part of the doofus real well.

Awesome replies

I just can't seem to get into wearing jeans on my boat. I have tried a couple of times but it just doesn't take. My wife hates my sweat pants with a passion. She says normal people only wears sweats around the house or to bed.

I think sweats are the best thing to come along since College Football but then again I guess I'm not "normal".

Unless its really hot out, it has to be a hickory shirt. The old one had really had it. I picked up a new one a few years ago when the wife was at Costal buying some horse stuff. And its full of luck like the old one.

I wish I knew what my "lucky fishing outfit" was. I carefully suit up with fishing related T-shirt or sweatshirt purchased in fishy locations, hoping they came with good fishing mojo. So far, I don't seem to have found the lucky combination.

And next time I will definitely shell out the extra money for the IFish hat with luck, instead of the standard model I purchased over a year ago.

I have one BB cap that just stays in the boat and almost always gets worn while on the water. It used to be bright red, but after almost 10 years, it is now rather dull looking.

I hate the thought of trading it in, but the bill is starting to tear loose and I may be forced to do so. It will be like loosing an old friend. :depressed:

My Filson hat and my exotherms. Doesn't even matter which exotherms, although my full suit ones with the windproof outer coating seems to really bring them in.
I find, however, that lipstick is very important, and I have certain colors separated in my purse that are proven to catch more fish.
I am dead serious.
