Default iFish or I complain Board

Gill netters, Sea Lions, Native Americans, Steve King, ODF&W, Feds, WDF&W, Hatcheries, Hydropower, ect, ect... Blah, blah, blah...

There seems to be alot of unhappy people on there seem to thing that they are somehow part of the NW Salmon Crisis Solution?

Unfortunatly, the solution I see time and time again on this board has to deal with finger pointing at particular induviduals and laying blame on a few. We "all" are part of the problem.

Diside if you are in this group....
1. Use electricity?
2. Catch and keep wild salmon and steelhead?
3. Take part in urban sprawl by dwelling in an urban area?
4.

I'll be the first to apologize for myself, how you feel, and what goes on. In a lot of cases it is idle chatter. There are however, a lot of people who are vary involved in the actual process outside of this board. Some of the most vehement have the most of themselves invested.

Sorry again.

Ty were are these unhappy people?
I find most fishers to be very happy people.
Because we are unhappy about something that is very much a part of our lives, does not make anyone of us an unhappy person.

Now let's go to your "problems"
1. Electricity....Wakeup it is not going to be replaced in your lifetime, if anything we will use more of it to replace oil.
2.Many stocks can and do have numbers to harvest, blanket statements are what got us into the mess. I do not kill wild steelhead, but there are some wild salmon I do bonk.
3. You do not take part in urban sprawl by living in the urban area, if you live in sub urban areas you take part in urban sprawl. Would you prefer we all move to the farms, or Alaska?

Accidental pre-post syndrome.......

To finish my point. CR fisheries where severly depressed at the begining of this century from overfishing. Add the icing on the cake of significant changes in the flow, estuary health, mixed stock fisheries by sport and commercial fisherman, urban sprawl, habitat detruction, 2 million caspian turns, and the many damns on the main stem and the lower four damns on the snake.

And now there apparently isn't enough fish for the significant number of sportfisherman in the greater portland area, cause the Willimette is high and muddy?

Suprise, suprise, suprise..... The few fish that are left everyone wants. Of course... they belong in someone's freezer, garden, or on someones wall.

Solutions come from creative and critical thinkers that can see the "big picture" and try to work constructively towards accepting that everyone that chooses to live in salmon habitat, has an impoact on there life, no matter how small it may seem.

So... Untill we as people of the NW decide that we are willing to make sacrifices to ensure future runs of salmon endure... Who really has the right to complain?

I am with you Ty. We are all in some way a part of the system that effect the fish runs.

Sometimes the managers of these resources make decisions we may not like, or even may not be the best decision for our particular interest group but we as anglers need to do our best to remember the fact we have fish to fish for and have some faith that those in charge are trying to do thier best for the resource and all involved..

Since this is a fishing board, and we don't have a whining board, I'm going to move this to Life in General.
