Default Sportman's Warehouse...Coming to C.O.???

I read in the business section of the Bend Bulletin this morning that Sportsmens Warehouse has filled out a pre-application with the city of Bend. The article made it sound like as long as things would clear through city planning and the land deal would go through, we would finally be seeing a decent outdoor supplier in our area.

This would be a very welcome retailer. At this point, searching through GI Joes, Bi-Mart, and Wal-Mart to find necessary steelhead and salmon gear is usually a fruitless endevour. I will admit, this spring Joes does have a nice Kwikfish selection for a change.

Speaking of Kwikkies, anyone have an opinion on the new 'Extreme' Kwikfish?

I'm not buying into the extreme k-fish idea. For one thing, they only come in 16s, which is a size that I don't use much. I guess they are molded the same way that 13s (another size I rarely use) are, which is right and left, as opposed to top and bottom halves(I think.) Additionally, you are supposed to not have to tune them, so they have a fixed eye. However, looking at these eyes, some of them aren't fixed straight, so I don't think they'd swim right, plus once you throw a bait wrap on one, the tuning is all messed up anyway. This is just a look at the box, hear the specs diagnosis. I won't be buying any unless I hear they're real killers.

I don't know about you, but I have to tune my kwikies differently for each sardine wrap I put on. If you can't tune the thing, then it seems like it would not work well with the wrap. Might be killer to fish with all by itself though.
