avitar help...

What did you name your avatar? I can't find anything in the uploads referencing your moniker, 6wapiti6.

That might be my problem, I just copied the location and pasted it where it says select a different avitar. The picture then comes up and I hit the select avitar tab. I thought that would do it.

I'm still not sure what name you gave to the picture that became your (runaway) avatar. What was the actual name of the image before the ifish upload changed it to a number sequence (like 5752635.jpg). If you'll get me that filename I'll try to help you find it.

Matt,

Go to your computer and rename the file. I'd suggest something like "6wapiti6.jpg" - and notice the extension is .jpg without the "e". The important thing is no more than eight characters in the name and no 'e' in the extension.

Then go through the upload again and when you get the file uploaded, you will see a number like I mentioned in my other post, example 5456791.jpg.

Write that number down.

Then go to your profile and click the "select a different avatar image" link.
Near the bottom, you will see a box with the words "Use Custom URL".
Type the following URL in that box:

http://www.ifish.net/uploads/5456791.jpg

(only substitute your numbers for the example I've given.

Then click "Set URL"

That should show the picture you want to use. Scroll down and click "Update Profile"

If it works, send me two fresh chinook fillets. If not, let me know and we'll try again.

Also, your file path is too long. Save it to disk, or right at the root....

Example:

C:\mypic!

ok, I finally got an avitar pic to come up on my profile page, but when I update profile and post a new message, it's gone...help!
