Yet another opportunity for the Anarchists.
I just got word that my evening escape from downtown is likely to be disrupted by the Portland Peaceful Response Coalition.
I'm fine with their peaceful march, even though I support our troups and feel we are doing the right thing being in Iraq. That's my own personal opinion and I don't care to debate it in this particular thread. Those who have different views aren't going to sway mine nor me sway theirs.
It's also not an issue for me that one of the great things about this country is that we DO have the freedom to express our opinions. Of course, this only continues because as a nation, many a soldier have given their lives protecting the very right that these folks enjoy in speaking their minds.
My gripe is that this march presents yet another opportunity for that group of ANARCHISTS who just come out when there is a chance just to cause grief, infringe on the rights of others, and destroy property. It just sickens me that our soldiers fight to protect our freedom and these small groups (not related to the real peaceful march planned)come out of the woodwork, cowardly covering their pathetic faces with scarves, destroying property, blocking safe passage to people they don't even know and feel they are justified. And to make manners worse, the Portland Police have to act with kid gloves so they don't get accused of being too rough with the cowardly little urchins.

Re: Yet another opportunity for the Anarchists.
Skrimmy - I posted this before...but in case you missed it: There was an anarchist demonstration/riot in downtown Eugene a couple years ago around the time of the WTO riots in Seattle. At one point, an anarchist jumped onto the hood of a car stopped in the melee, damaging it and scaring the woman driver. She had just picked up her 21-yr-old son from his construction job so he got out and chased down and tackled the anarchist and then worked his face over with his fists and a small dry-wall hand tool he had in his back pocket... Well, the cops broke up the fight and the anarchist pressed charges, crying bloody murder  ....apparently forgetting that real anarchists have no use for laws, police or government . Fortunately, the DA found a way for the 21-yr old to walk free with the admonishment not to beat up any more anarchists . Never heard if the anarchist had to pay for the damages to the car or not.

Why don't they come to KF to block the roads and break windows?

Re: Yet another opportunity for the Anarchists.
I was once very angry and foolish. My hair was long. I had gold dangeling from my ear. Tattoos. A waste of my youth was in progress. My family was somewhat embarressed of me(easy to understand). Then I got a job. Then I got a girl-she is my wife now. Then I started to get responsible. It was a very slow process.
Now my family taunts me with the pictures of my youth. I see the world in a different light. Not all things that need to be done are pretty, fun, or feel good. But they need to be done. Someone has to do them.
Someday those "Urchins" (by the way that term used to describe those folks gets my vote for the "nail on the head award" ) will have jobs, wives(or husbands or life partners of whatever), mortgages, kids, dogs(couldn't have a list of real stuff without the dog now could I?)and the rest of the mundane responsibilities that are adulthood in life as we know it. They will have their folks showing pictures to their kids. Pictures of Mom and Dad when they were young and not as wise as they are today.
I am very sorry about the traffic. I hope the urchins get their due tonite. But if it takes 10 years for them to get it, thats OK. I'll be here waiting for the light in their head to go on. Because I am middle America. And I am very much alive and well.
Mark and the cowardly urchin lovin dog.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Well, actually Mark, I can't take claim for coming up with such an appropriate name for them. That belongs to a fellow ifisher. If he wants to step forward and take a bow, that'll be up to him! This fellow ifisher and I exchanged a couple views via email, not here, so I won't identify a name!
However, here's the that fellow ifisher who came up with such an appropriate name for the vile little group of thugs who's mission isn't to protest the war, but to only cause civil disobedience, block rights of others, and do as much property damage in the process as they can.

"Why don't they come to KF to block the roads and break windows?"
Maybe the for the same reason the cowboys didn't do thier photo op protests over water in Portland??
It is much more fun playing to a friendly audience, tough guy implications not withstanding.
Not supporting violence or vandalism, merely denouncing the childish "cowboy up" comment...

Re: Yet another opportunity for the Anarchists.
In KF the "Protesters" have been very peaceful and low key. No problems on either side. If the Eugene crowd came down here they wouldn't be too happy with the reaction to their vandalism and disruption of traffic.

No. More police doing their job and arresting these criminals. And I don't think Bubba will kicking their butts when they're in his cell.

Re: Yet another opportunity for the Anarchists.
The so-called anarchists should be very happy that they have never experienced it.
From the "Liberal Redneck" and proud of it!
Keta, we would be happy to send some your way
