Default Any Rockhounds out there?

I am more of a pebble pup. My rockhounding consists of a trip to Richardsons ranch, picking up geodes and agates when I find them while fishing and hunting, and such.

However Monday I am hauling the whole tribe over the hill and we are going to take the underslung route over to Owyhee and back via 20. We will be taking a week and in addition to some fishing, hitting some sites for agates, jasper, and so on. I found a good site here if any of you are interested in this sort of stuff: http://orerockon.com/ore_map.htm

Have fun over there, we are/were big fans of Richardsons, mostly for the geode's and even the broken ones, that the wife used for her wire gem tree bases. Now would be a good time (if you have a four wheel drive) to go look for limb casts over at mile marker 51 by Paulina, might be kinda messy though. We havent been there for a couple of years but there is some pretty nice stuff if you look (and look, and look) around.
HAVE FUN.

We returned last night from our trip. The weather put a squelch on getting many rocks, though, bacause my conversion van does not like deep ruts or slippery mud. We ended up picking up some picture jasper and obsidian around Burns, but could not get to most of the areas we wanted to go because of the snow and mud. We started by heading south to Roseburg, up past Diamond Lake, Across Sycan Marsh, to Lakeview, then to Plush, Frenchglen, Burns, then all ove the Ochocos, then to Biggs. The kids had fun, and even said they enjoyed the trip.(As long as we stay in a motel with a pool....) Still and all, it is like a breath of fresh air every time I get out of the valley.
