Re: Anarchists on the Steel Bridge!!!
The non-permited protesters were not all there for the same cause. Some were anti-car, some were anti-capitolism, some were anti-war, and some were out simply to be roudy.
Did you notice the "McMurderer" sprayed on the side of the McDonalds? Doesn't seem to have much of an anti-war theme to me.
How many of those literally dancing in the street we actually discussing why they were opposed to the war?
I felt that the LEOs were very restrained and should have used stronger tacktics sooner. But I think that our 'mayor' prefers the LEO's be on a very short leash. I feel this will only lead to more protests each getting worse than the previous, as they saw what they could get away with before. Since the consequences are no more than a hand slap or a little stinging in the eyes, why not take it to the next level?
In S.F. CA, a motorist was pulled from his/her minivan and beaten. The minivan was then looted. As the Portland protesters are linked with those in other cities, and take some of their cues from CA, how long before something like that happens here?
Peaceful protesting is fine and I actually encourage honest, peaceful protests. Last night was not peaceful, nore honest.
