Anyone have GOOD news?
Okay, my day rakes again today. I'm tired of hearing only BAD news. Besides the obvious "W" word, I'm stressed out at work, burned out on my job and stressed out at home trying to get ready for having my carpets cleaned and pack for vacation all at the same time.
Anyone have some GOOD news to share?
I had to think really hard to come up with some good news.
Pilar is back from Washington and I'll get to see him before I leave for California.
My kids are behaving nicely (not the norm just prior to a road-trip)
It looks like the roads will be clear all the way to southern CA.
Anyone else trying to find the bright sides?

I have a desire to buy a bottle of expensive Tequila, does that qualify as good news?

Jennie: Rub it in! I guess you're getting me back for yesterday, huh? Just got off the phone with Pilar - He's FISHING. Then I got a call from Mr. Fisherman - He's FISHING!
:depressed: sniff :depressed:
Northriver1 - if you're thinking about buying ME an expensive bottle of tequila, that would be good news

Cool! I found a few more things to be happy about...
My buddy Mr. Fisherman landed his first springer in his new boat.
Pilar and my best friend's brother are spanking sturgies.
Ugly Green is in Zihawatanejo having a lovely vacation (and making us all jealous)
And I'm leaving the office in 30 minutes

Good News to me is the fact that I am an American Citizen. It beats all alternatives.

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
I just got back from a great visit to La Grande that really lifted my spirits.
I was able to visit with some people I haven't seen for a long time, got to see some absolutely beautiful country again, saw lots of whitetail and mule deer, a bunch of elk, 14 wild turkeys, a golden eagle and a couple mountain quail. To top it off I got to fish for steelhead on the Wallowa (my favorite river), and took a 4-wheeler trip into some of my old fishing haunts and some very secluded water. Absolutely a great trip! (lots of steelhead to be had over there right now)
Now it's time to catch some springers

NR1 - Why not , everything else is my fault :depressed:
Gasoline is still far less expensive than tequila. Of course, if you're going to drink cheap tequila, you could easily give it up for gasoline
OH! I just had another happy thought! I'm heading to California where Hornitos is WAY cheaper than it is here!

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
Wheresmybobber, Did you grow up in LaGrande???
That's cool you saw some whitetails, I only saw them on rare occasions out in the marsh area on pheasant/duck hunting trips in the 80's.
My good news is that I took my FF'ing buddy for his first ride down some hairy water in our pontoon boats and he did not dump his boat once between Dodge and Oxbow, I did, however, out fish him!!!

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
Well, I woke up with two thoughts in my head this morning - where's the coffee and how's the world.
I never expected to get a phone call from Stevens Marine, where my boat has been frustrating me and the repair staff with an intermittent hull leak that is sometimes serious and other times not a problem. Imagine my Shock and Awe when I learned that they would rather replace my boat with a new one than spend any more time trying to resolve the problem! So next week I will pick up a brand new boat with a couple improvements over my old one. But Man! I was as blown away as I think I've ever been! I guess the lifetime Alumaweld hull warrantee is worth it! I'm just stunned! WOW!

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
Mikey - I lived and worked in La Grande for about 20 months from 1985-1987. I was single, had a lot of free time, and spent every spare moment I had fishing and exploring that corner of the state. Even ice fishing over at Phillips Reservoir during the winter....
There's actually a lot of white tails down around Minam. In fact, there's quite a few of them all the way from Minam down to Rondowa, mostly on the Wallowa side of the river, but you'll also see them on the Elgin side. The ones we saw the other day were up on Smith Mountain, as that's the route we took to get down to my favorite fishing water.
We also saw something I haven't seen before, a group of mulies mixed in with a small herd of elk. They were feeding together on our way in, and on our way out later in the day they were all bedded down under some trees. I've never seen them hang out together like that before.
I'll shoot you an email tomorrow, we may have some mutual friends.

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
If you're stressed out at work, that means you have a job.
I'm guessing you're an American Citizen.
You have access to the internet and know how to use it.
The Iraqi people will finally be free from genocide and torture among other atrocities they have been subjected to for so many years.
I drive an 18' bayliner with a green top and green stripe. Will probably have an American Flag flying when in the water. If you see me out, come on over and I'll give you a beer, smile and some friendly conversation.
Some of these things may not be news but I consider them good just the same.
Take care
SN

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
Thanks everyone for the good news. It sure helps to hear some "good" for a change. Too much negativity in the air lately.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep it up! I'm sure everyone can use some positive thoughts.
P.S. NR1 - Please tell me I did not corrupt you! We'll see you at DB when we a) run out of room to put fish or b) it gets too dark to fish or c) it gets too rough to fish, but we'll always d) have tequila for the cleaning party!

Re: Anyone have GOOD news?
Pilars Mate - If we have to blame it on someone it might as well be you. It sure can't be me. At what price level does expensive rear its ugly head? If the gas prices don't come down I might have to drink my boat fuel or better yet, sell my fish to pay for the fun.
