About 8 years ago my parents bought 5 turkeys and let them go on our property in West Linn. Over the years they have grown and shrank in numbers (as many as 20). We now estimate there are 2 toms and 3 hens.
One of the Toms is now running around with an arrow in his thigh. We don't hunt these birds, as the popululaiton is not sustained. I found out today that someone shot one of the Toms with an arrow. My dad contacted the Audubon Society and the American Wildlife Foundation and they both said they would help if we could catch it. I tried earlier, but it still runs fast. We have corn leading into the barn and are hoping to trap it. Any ideas? I'd also LOVE to find out who shot him. Let me know if you recognize the arrow, or know some poachers in West Linn. Thank you, Andy A picture from Today: ![]() About a year ago:

It is very possible that this bird was legally shot during the season and never recovered. The entire state is open for hunting. I don't even see an arrow on the first pic.

That would be great if the bird can be caught and arrow removed, but I have to agree that saying whomever shot the bird is a "poacher" is a bit extreme. Unless that is, the bird was seen without the arrow since the end of May. Turkeys are very free ranging and although they frequent areas, they do travel around and could have caught that arrow during season on another piece of property. Hope the corn trail in the barn works. Always hate to see an injured animal!

its obviously not a lethal hit. I would watch it for a few days and see if it knocks the arrow out by itself. Also, the arrow looks like its fiberglass from a youth set up, this would mean a field tip and more than likely it should fall out.
If not, you are going to have to try and trap it somehow. Maybe box, and string trick.
