Default Dodge Trucks & Large Men & Seat Belts

So how many of you that are larger have a hard time with the new way that Dodge trucks are putting their seat belts in the seat itself?

I was looking at a 1999 quad cab. I really liked the truck but when I went to put the seat belt on it was about 5 inches short.

After looking at it for a minute or two I noticed that the seat belt itself is about 8 inches lower than when mounting it onto the door or frame?

Why did dodge do this? I for one am a large guy but since the seat belt sits under my armpit and it has to go up and over my shoulder this make it to short and now I have to either look for an seat belt extension (if one is out there) or get a different truck.

Dang you must be one big dude. I'mm 6'6" and tip the scales at 300 plus and have no trouble with my belt. 2001 Dodge Quad. Are you sure it isn't just stuck inside the reel? My only complaint with Dodge is the hard seat.

Capt. I am 6'2 and 370. Yes I am big but still with the seat belt coming out of the seat itself I have questions about it.

Does your belt come out of the seat itself?
If so then maybe this one truck does have an issue with the belt.

Maybe I will go sit in another rig and see what that one does.

Thanks for the help.

I just talked with the T&C in Wilsonville and they do make the extensions. Then to find out they are free.

Thats right folks if you are on the extra extra large size you have a safe way to travel. Just see your local dealer and see what they can do for you.

The seat belt extenders come in different lengths. I got one for my son so he can put himself in and out of his carseat by himself. It move the buckle up about 6 inches so he can reach it while in his seat and I dont have to crawl into the back of the truck to do/undo the buckle for him.

I dont like the way the seatbelts come out of the seat on the dodge trucks, (and I use the word "truck" loosely ) My buddy has seat covers he puts on during hunting season so the seats dont get dirty, but with the seat covers you cant use the seatbelt. I suppose somebody makes an overpriced seat cover that fits the dodge vehicles but he didnt find them. Poor design IMHO.

Roy, what do you know, you an engineer or something? Dodge makes a good truck, I actually use my 2001 HO Deisel beyond its capacity. No problems, the seat belt situation isn't a problem with me but then I am not a large guy either.
