Trent Lott had freedom of speech and look where it got him. Sure they have the freedom to say what they want without any criminal recourse, but there is a price to pay for behaving in such a dissapointing manner. I never liked the dixie chicks anyway. I don't think they'll even be hurt financially by this. Just look at that traitor Jane Fonda.

I disagree about Jane fonda, i think she was hurt by it financially (not counting Turner)I think it hurt her movie career.I would not compare her to Ellsburg though.

Well, the Dixie Chicks are no longer on my country western listen to list. To bad, I use to like them. Not any more after last night. They were an embarasement to this country. I hope they stay in Europe. Maybe they will become known as the Frenchie (government that is) Chicks.

Don't look for their music to be played much right now. I threw my CD's away today too. Made me sad to here them talk like that. :depressed: I say this to the Dixie Chicks [img]graemlins/berry.gif[/img] !!!!!!!!!!!!

Freedom of speech....I support their right to say it. I wont boycott them at all. Then again, I dont buy CD's (Kazaa) or attend too many concerts. I'll still listen to them though.

I'm not saying they don't have the right to say what they please, they do. Even with free speech there are consequences. They will find out what those are. That is the American way. Nobody is telling them to "shut-up", they are simply saying that they disagree with their actions and no longer with to support them.

Right or wrong, they're entitled to their opinion and free speech. As celebrities they have an advantage over the general public because they have access to the media more readily. If anybody is gullible [sp?] enough to believe that these people speak for all Americans then they're pretty nieve [sp?]. The price they pay for exercising their freedom of speech rights has been noted by earlier postings....it could hurt their product sales and concert attendance.

I'm not a Dixie Chicks fan....yeh, "eye candy" I know, but I don't have any of their cd's.

Oh, and coincidently, I'm not a fan of GW either- he's a loose cannon, but I appreciate that he's provided a lot of entertaining material that shows up on Saturday Night Live. Please don't let these comments discourage you from buying my first cd, if I can ever learn to sing. Wonder if there'd be much of a market for a cd of humming pop music? dixie chick should not have apologized under pressure, which only shows her insincerity. her freedom of speech is not bounded by some borderline, so she and everyone should be free to speak their minds.

i do not respect bush for his disrespectful and smug attitude and for his unwillingness to compromise and listen. he's more like a dictator than a democratic leader.

I dont see it as censorship, just protest or boycott or whatever you want to call it. Bush is taking us into what could become the next world war. We are losing our cival rights more daily. In the name of the war on terror. Which Iraq is not really part of.

Police here searched a babies diaper while doing a standard traffic stop recently. What gives them the right to do that when they pull someone over for not wearing a seat belt ?

Isreal will not hold back this time. They may even drop a nuke. They keep a bomber or two in the air with one at all times just like us.
We are destablizing the middle east and the backlash may be terrible. Especially if and when they join in.

You know how we know he may still have weapons of mass destruction?
Because Powell and Rumsfeld gave them to him and trained his troops how to use them.

The world is turning against us and we no longer have the resourses to be fully independent like we did years ago. Bush is ruining 60 years of relations with other countries.

Shall we look at Asia like north korea or the pradominantly Muslim coutries over there? This would be a great time for them to cross some borders. North Korea has a nuke that could reach Portland.

How about our ecconomy?
Bush really doesn't care about anyone who isn't rich.

Bush is now crossing borders to wage a war for a regieme change and force democrocy. Kinda like Sadam when he crossed into Kuwait to annex it.

Bush has played right into Bin Ladens Number one goal. Uniting the muslim world against us. Bush and his admin will have completed the the attack of 9/11 for Bin Laden and others when the bombs drop.

We don't want to look at it but we have backed and assasinated leaders for years and they hate us because we have double standards. Look at the shaw of Iran or all the nifty training and money we gave to Bin laden, the Taliban and Sadam. The world knows this and holds us accountable. We need to be leaders not childern striking out in anger.

I keep hearing about how the war with Iraq is going to start WW III. Who will be the participants in this oft mentioned war? And as far as gaining the trust and respect of the Middle East, is this the same Middle East that I saw on CNN cheering the destruction of the Twin Towers and 3000 innocent victims? I personally have friends and children of friends that are standing on the front line right now. Would they like to be somewhere else? Damn Straight! But, do they believe in what they are about to do? Damn Straight! The reason the Dixie Chicks apologized is because they thought that main stream America would agree with what they had to say.
