Default Suddenly it's a good idea?

Hmmm. Seems that when former Governor Kitzhaber wanted to hold on to our kicker checks a a few years ago, the Republicans went ape.

Now, two Senate Republicans think its a great idea.

Story here

Weird world, I tell ya!

Too late now, there won't be kicker checks anyway.

Yes it was a good idea, it sure wouldn't be as big of a mess right now.

What always got me is that it cost the state about a MILLION dollars to process, print and mail the checks. Whooooosh! Down the potty. So I could have my hundred bucks.

Might have something to do with the the state's credit rating being lowered. One of the reasons given was the kicker policy.

I was talking to my parents a couple of years ago about the kickers. They're both in their eighties, and they predicted that one day that kicker refund would bite us in the arse.
Another case of "the older you get, the smarter your parents were."

Maybe Dr K did have some wisdom, after all.

How could there be a kicker check this year?

If they would have kept your checks several years ago, do you honestly believe they would have money now???....no way! The money would have been spent on taking the Oregon GinSing commission to an east coast conference for some wining and dining.

I consider the kicker to be my money. Maybe they should collect the right amount in the first place and not have to spend so much returning it to its rightful owner.

Still, why would two conservative lawmakers suddenly agree with Kitz's plan from a few years ago? Doesn't make sense.
