Default Squeaky Tandem Trailer Surge Disc Brakes

My 07' EZ-Loader Tandem Disc Brake trailer sure does squek a lot when I'm braking. Any way to stop them from squeking? Trailer stored under carport, out of sun, oil bath hubs look good, not a ton of miles, nor abused etc. Don't know much about brake systems, would spraying the discs/pads with brake cleaner be a place to start etc.

Spraying with brake cleaner probably won't help much. Try coating the back sides of the brake pads where they make contact with the caliper pistons with antisqueel compound. The first time I ever did my own brakes I turned down the autoparts guy's recommendation that I buy the little packets thinking they were snake oil. 2 weeks, and a lot a squeals later, I got to do the job over again. They instantly stopped squealing. I think there are also anti-vibration stickers that can be added to the back of the pads as well.

All brakes will usually squeal the first or second time you stop because of the thin film of rust that forms on the rotors. This is normal and can't be avoided.

I don't know what was worst, the brakes squealing or the (now ex) wife squealing because the brakes were squealing. So I learned black or even blue RTV will work in a pinch. Just let it dry really well before reassembling. (Don't ask how I know this. )

However, if you find yourself near The People's Republic of Eugene I can give you some real anti-squeal that I have sitting around from the numerous brake jobs I've done.

I would check to see if the pads need to be replaced. I have a EZ-loader tandem disc brake trailer and have not ever had them squeak. It seem like there is a good chance the brake pads need replacing. Also check the brake fluied as it goes down as the brake pads wear down.
Check and double check.
Good Luck

All squeeking and noise, is the result of vibration. Vibration is the result of tolerances being incorrect. As in most disc brake situations, the rotors were either not turned, or warped after installation. Some pads may be prone to making noise and the calipers could cause a problem if they did not retract, thereby forcing the pads to rub against the disc continuously.
