Go MOOKS !!! State 3A Basketball Tourney
I attended the first game today of the State 3A Championships at Gill Coliseum @ OSU. The Tillamook Boys after an undefeated Cowapa League season are ranked #3 going in ...
Today's first game was against the Madras White Buffalo's. The Mooks took care of business with a 74 to 48 victory! Tillamooks 6'7" post, Jason Hartford was leader of the pack with a whopping 41!!! :shocked:
The next game will be aginst Siuslaw @ OSU on Thurs. @ 11am. -------------- I'm there!
Also our Tillamook Girls team (ranked #5 in state) will play their first game on Wed. @ 9:30 pm in their quest for a state chapionship!
I love High School sports, it's fun to watch those kids play because they love the game!!!

Right on.
As an alum of a former basketball powerhouse (Parkrose) I can appreciate your enthusiasm. We won the 3A championship when I was a sophomore (1978- there was no 4A then) and the partying was just as intense as the basketball. The day after we won state the principal called an assembly first thing in the morning to honor the team, and then he gave the whole school the rest of the day off. Even the kids who didn't like sports dug that one. :smile:

Sorry, but i've gotta go with the Vik's on this one! I was going to be there, but remembered that my kid has a Dr. appointment.....
But then, i guess i'm rooting more for the coach (known as "Novice" on Ifish) than the team.

I was rooting for the Vikings in this game...I was just congratulating the better team of the day...But i will gladly cheer on the Cavs

ya know i was thinking about this as i was cleaning the mess up in the bathroom after replacing the floor because of dry rot....which really stinks because it is cramping the amount of time i can gain knowledge on Ifish....I guess I am now officially rooting for Tillamook...If you are going to lose in the state tourney, you might as well lose to the #1 team, right? p.s.....I'm just waiting for Gone Fishin to get back to the keyboard and tell us all how fast paced and exciting the game was :grin:

It really wasn't that exciting ... Did you say that the Siuslaw coach was an Ifish member?
The first quarter was interesting to say the least...I think I'll leave it at that until I talk to the coach. The rest of the game was pretty good ball though!
The Girls team fared well tonight also, with a close victory!!! Both teams now advance tomorrow (Friday) night. The Boys are facing Coquille at 5 pm. and the girls are up against Madras at 9:30 pm. Both games at Gill Coliseum.
A victory means they advance to the "big dance" final game on Saturday!

The boys did it!!! They beat Coquille by a final score of 55 to 40! Great game and now Tillamook Boys will play Saturday @ 8:45pm for The State 3A Championship against Central!!!
Our girls team just finished their game against Madras and fell short, 40 to 45 final. Now the girls will face the number 1 ranked girls team coming in, Marist. They'll be playing for Third place at 4pm on Saturday. The Madras team will face Burns for the Girls 3A Final at 7pm.
All games at Gill Coliseum.
