Default Drumrollllllllllllllllll for ifish

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time for the move.

Please pray for me, (send good vibes, do whatever you do,) as my credit card gets a good work out this morning. YIKES this is expensive!

All I can do is thank Don at Seasurf, from the bottom of my little ifish heart for the four years that he has been so generous to ifish.

He mentored me into this web building, when I quit traveling around playing music. I was looking for a job I could do at home.

I found it!

Ifish started when he asked me to pick a domain name and register it, and see how well I could get it listed in the search engines. Back then, it was a bit easier than it is now, but... It worked! People came!

...and then, there was ifish!

Now it is time for me to try out my wings on a dedicated server. I'm scared. My credit card is scared, too!

HERE WE GO! I'm ordering the dedicated host this very morning! YIKESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

HOLD MY HANNIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It will be 48 hours, at least, until I get the server in my name... then, I hired a sys admin to transfer the files and install all the techno stuff that makes ifish work.

I'll spend the weekend playing with ifish to see if it works, then next week.... THE MOVE! We'll go live!

Jen

You know what?
I think I need to go fishing.

Let's just cancel this whole thing, ok?

Nah.... I'm in! It's all good, right?

It'll go fine. People do this every day, right? It's just a bunch of "0"s and "1"s lined up so they trigger computer processes that result in intelligible displays. Just keep the little soldiers marching in order to their new barracks, make sure the right doors are open and "wallah" , everything will be like it ever was!

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">A good daily backup will result in many hallelejuahs and save at the collection plate &lt;grin&gt;.

Just make sure the server service includes daily backups for you as part of the service. Fish happen so the worst fate would be losing a day's messages.

Blah....

Today was a mishmash of "extra" charges for this and that... Not at all what the "original" price was...

Extra for backup, extra for setups, extra for backup setups...

I didn't sign the contract... Back to shopping.

This is worse than buying a digital camera was for me!

Now, it's time to sit down, write down all the pros and cons of my final choices in the list, and then mull it over for 5 years.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Is this with InfoPop on a shared server? Dedicated?

InfoPop seems pretty clear on the charges as you do a Build Plan.

I went with them because of the forum software but they were half the cost of my previous web host.

No, I wouldn't go with infopop, because they are really spendy, in my opinion.

Anyway, I'm moving this to life in general, if you want to talk more, there, k?

What are you talking about? And what does it mean to the average computer-challenged Ifisher? Are pictures going to be easier to post?

Have you checked Hostway? Not sure about the prices on they're dedicated accounts. My brother has had his site hosted there for a couple years now and has been pretty happy with them.
