Default Halliburton gets Iraq rebuilding contract

Kellog Brown & Root Services, a subsidiary of Halliburton, has won the contract to rebuild the Iraqi oil fields, in the event that they are destroyed during an Iraq war, according to this article at the San Francisco Gate. Vice President Cheney, the CEO of Halliburton prior to running on the Bush ticket, had no comment.

fish,
If I remember right you posted that Halliburton was going to get the oil contracts not the rebuilding contracts. I also think you were corected. Anyway the VP should of sold his Halliburton interest before taking office.

And lets see our lovely vice president is being investgated for his books at haliburton and also the comapanies illeagle dealings with Iraq and there oil fields. umm now why are we really going to Iraq oh yeah for the oil.

Unfortunately, Haliburton is the "big gun" in the field, so it only makes sense for them to be the ones to go in a pick up the mess that their old boss is going to make.

No way around it, only mega-millionaires, or those with such connections, have the ability to be elected president nowadays...so we're always going to have conflicts of interest.

OK, here is one that I like.

For the boys from the New American Century to gain the economic domination they are looking for the first stop is to grab the huge oil reserves in Iraq. This is there corner stone and from there they launch their campaign to control the world's economy.

The sad part is that the only ones that will be safe from terrorism are these guys and a few others. We're going to be left holding the bag and the ones taking the hits.

Relating to 'The Geeks'initial part of the thread, there really are some interesting connections when one looks at the world's most truly powerful and wealthy people. Obviously the insinuation here is an attempt to indict V.P.Cheney as "going to war for profit".

Back in my "Conspiracy Theory" years of higher education, I initially received a degree in Sociology (ya, that was really useful }...but anyway, part of our culminating studies were invested in making connections between the true bourgeoisie' of the US and how their interconnections actually created an oligarchy of old wealth guiding the direction of our economy. It was truly on the verge of scarey looking at the spiderweb of connections we created, tying vote controlling boardmembers together from one Fort.500 company to another...it was a solid mesh of power. And yes, there were just as many d's by those controlling interest names as there were r's.

Although it was an intimidating revelation, in retrospect and current-spect I believe the history of this group and their impact on our country has been , prosperity, benevolence and as they aged true philanthropy.

...or maybe it really is like the Matrix and I'm the guy that doesn't want to take the blue pill! Just give me the good lookin' girl and a juicy steak

PS.Is there anything on the label about taking Nyquil and Dayquil as your staple food base for 5 days in a row???

Keta:

I would recommend against your correction of anyone's spelling in the future. You should have just let it slide. But who are you to talk, indeed?

Both your link and my link say the same pertinent facts. There is also a link between Cheney and the #1 supplier of food and supply services in military deployments. Yet another subsidary of Halliburton.

Geek,
Didn't you see all of my post? Or was it so long and your attention span so short you didn't finish reading? *

At least I know what a sick bird is.

Maybe I'm just way too naive, but I can't understand why people would suspect Cheney, who got a $37 million golden handshake when he left Haliburton, would want to "go to war" in order to add to his bank account. The guy has a bad heart....he's in his 60s....has more money than he'll ever spend....has family & friends...standing in the community....he's Vice-President, for cripe's sake. Nope, it just doesn't make sense. This war, if it happens, isn't "about oil" nor is it about making Cheney or Bush wealthier than they already are. They are doing this because they think it is the right course for the country.

Interesting reports tonight out of Iraq that Iraqi soldiers have allegedly set explosives along the oil pipelines. I don't have links ready, but CNN is reporting it regularly on their channel.

In a potentially related story, there are reports that Iraq may be outfitting some paramilitary troops in the very same outfits as US and British soldiers, so that they can commit atrocities against Iraqi people and blame it on US and/or British forces.

I wonder now if those Iraqi soldiers that were seen setting the explosives on the pipelines were wearing some of these fake US or British uniforms.

Surely, there is no link between these points and my original thread topic. None whatsoever.

I'm beginning to develop a new hero -- in the least likely place I'd ever expect to find one.

It turns out that it was President Dwight Eisenhower, the former general and "Supreme Allied Commander," (Dare you to try topping that title! ) who created the phrase and the warning: Beware the military-industrial complex."

I'm sure it's just coincidence that there are many billions of bucks to be made in oil field repairs and super-high-tech weaponry.

Oh, and I picked up another great quote last week, also attributed to Ike: "When the people take the lead, the leaders will follow."

Not only is the US hated for certian political practices, so is Haliburton hated worldwide not for its "US corp" title, but because it would rather hire an american (with a valid passport) than a qualified foriegner.

We are fighting and killing for OIL

how many ways to profit from oil without ever getting your hands "dirty" Cheney?

What's so wrong with the victor enjoying the spoils of war. We should at least take enough oil to pay for this war and the Gulf War, with interest. If a country acts in such a way that demands we go thump them then they should pay for the thumping. Lets face it, a good beating now-a-days costs alot of money.

Of course, you're right, Degner. While this war isn't "about oil", we'd be crazy not to recoup the costs of the '91 exercise and the current one...in oil. Impeccible logic.
