Outdoor column by my nephew
As many of you know, my nephew is Guy Carl who used to hold the brown trout record for Oregon. He and his dad (my brother)started coming to Oregon 24 years ago in search of trophy trout. My brother was an outdoor writer and wrote a column in the Napa Valley Register for years. He was also a former president of the Outddor Writers Assosciation of California. Guy has since taken over his dad's column. Guy and one of his brothers was up for a recent visit and I joined them for a day at Crescent with a friend in 2 boats. I shared this link to his recent column with a few friends and they suggested I share it on here, since its all about family, and trophy trout. Enjoy:

Re: Outdoor column by my nephew
That "last" trip that my brother was able to make up here that Guy referred to included 2 days with me on my boat, while Guy and a friend fished on their boat. It was the 1st time in my life that I was able to play guide for my older brother. This was one of those days on Crescent:

Oh, I did enjoy that...wonderful article! Looks like the love of fishing runs through the blood of all the Carl family. You too, junior!

Yes sir. That's why we're addicted to it. It's all about the total experience.

Indeed Joe, an excellent post. Much better than a bicker fest post.

Re: Outdoor column by my nephew
Nice story Joe
It's good to see family traditions being carried on even in the absence of some. Your brother may not be there in body, but he's there every time you're on the water. He probably even helps you net a few

Re: Outdoor column by my nephew
I really enjoyed reading that story. My brother and I are much the same and made a "tradition" trip to Diamond Lake last year. We talked a lot about our dad (passed away) while we were on the water.

Nice story Joe, and it reminds not to take family fishing trips for granted.
