Having Some Tough Times, Would Appreciate Your Prayers
My family and I have been in a tough way over the last month. My Fiance's father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had surgery yesterday to remove his prostate. The good news is that they found no sign that it had spread to his lymph nodes or anywhere else.
Three days after my Fiance found out about her dad, she was given her lay-off notice. Its frustrating because her company has made some really poor decisions lately, including sending us and a bunch of other people on an all-expense paid vacation. They made a big deal about her being rewarded for her hard work, now they are rewarding the heck out of her with this lay-off. She is considering going back to school, but isn't quite sure what she wants to do or where she wants to go.
Some of you that know our story know that I had to move from the PDX area to Olympia, WA because of work issues. My Fiance and I have been maintaining a long-distance relationship for nearly two years with her trying to find new employment in my area and me trying to find new employment back in Portland. Neither has worked out, and I thought the lay-off was a sign from God that my Fiance was meant to get away from the job that had been so stressful and draining. I thought it was a sure sign that we truly were meant to be together. Now, she is having thoughts of going away for 18 months to two years for school, and I'm just not sure I can keep going like this. We had been engaged for a week when I was forced to move to Olympia. According to plans that we had at that time, we would have actually gotten married last month. Now, I have no clue when it will happen.
With this, I haven't been feeling that great lately. I went to the doctor to have some tests done fearing that I might be experiencing pre-diabetes. I was very happy to learn that all of my blood work came out normal and that I was fairly healthy. The only problem is, some of my liver enzymes are high and my Doctor is worried anough that he wants to run a bunch of tests immediately. He says that the only things that cause those enzymes to be high are liver disease, hepatitis A-B-C, heavy drinking and obesity. I don't drink heavily and I don't exhibit the risk behaviors to acquire hepatitis (besides eating at salad bars and buffets), I had taken Advil prior to the test, which can also cause those levels to be increased.
I ask for your prayers for a speedy recovery for my Fiance's father. He's a very good man and loves his family. I also ask for your prayers for my Fiance and I to find guidance in our path together. If that path leads us to be apart further, please pray for me to have the strength to be supportive and not selfish. Also, please pray that my blood tests return with normal levels or indicators that its just my weight that has caused the red flags in my blood work.
Thank you and God Bless.

Re: Having Some Tough Times, Would Appreciate Your Prayers
Hang in there Dan and Nary. Rho and I spent two years apart when she moved to Wisconsin to finish school. Once we were done I spent the next two years in training all over the country. Somewhere in there we got married after dating for 7 years. Things were normal till Carly came along than I spent 4 of her first six years on the road teaching and I mean everywhere. Some how managed to have a 2nd (Boss said he let me go home once to often - we were in Tuscon at the time) - 85% of my work time was outside of Oregon that year.
With the good comes the bad - we've been there today, yesterday, last week, last month, last year, last decade. There is always something.
Hope Nary's Dad does well, sounds at least like good news of sorts. You are too young for Liver problems - Advil doesn't cause Liver problems no matter how much you drink - Trust me I'm a professional Tylenol now that is another problem.
If nothing else call me this weekend you maybe we can diagnose an issue with my 17 - later

Re: Having Some Tough Times, Would Appreciate Your Prayers
Thank you for all of your prayers and words. My Fiance's dad will be coming home from the hospital today if everything looks okay to the doctor. I gave a ton of blood to have my liver function tested. I'll keep you all updated.

Re: Having Some Tough Times, Would Appreciate Your Prayers
I appreciate your prayers and thoughts. Some light is starting to shine. All of my blood tests are coming up negative for the scary stuff. In the end, the elevated levels in my liver could be the result of me being......fat.
My Fiance's father is home and recovering. He has such a great attitude about life. The doctor said he lymph nodes appear to be free of cancerous cells, so the prognosis is pretty good.
We are looking into a possible residency tuition waiver for my fiance to go to nursing school in Washington (she's an Oregon resident). We'll be keeping our fingers crossed on that one. My fiance is being very proactive and I'm very proud of her. If we have to be apart for longer, we'll just have to see it as paying our dues toward our future life together.
