Paid off my truck, got the title...now what?

Truck was purchased/financed in Texas. Paid it off last month (WOOHOO!!!!), and got the title from the credit union in Texas that did the financing.

Question is...do I have to file it with Oregon, file it in my desk, or what??

I believe you are supposed to retitle it in Oregon. Call the DMV. They are very phone friendly.

But what you really need to do is sell the truck, QUICK!

Don't you know what happens to paid off vehicles??????????

You can keep the title in a safe place OR you can get a new title issued and then keep that in a safe place. Saftey deposit box is best. :smile:

Hogmaster, sometime you can be lucky enough to pay a rig off early before any of those problems. Unless your me and the wife finds something else she likes and talks me into it so it starts all over again. :depressed:

Things breaking? What do you think I drive, a Ford?? Or worse...a Chevy?!? No way...I drive a good truck. Dodge all the way. :grin:

79k miles, and nothing broken on it. Rotors warp from time to time, but Les replaces those for free, so I am ok. Other than that, its just dirty, packed with Golden Retriever hair inside, and smells like wet waders. Might be time to vaccuum it and get new floormats. :shocked:

I want to. I keep facing this really weak argument though from my wife about carpeting the basement first, having a baby, blah blah blah.

I returned to work last summer. I'm still living the low income life style, saving and trying to recover some of my financial losses (retirement acct, etc.).

I prefer to save first, then buy a new vehicle, or toy. That way the interest goes to me, not the bank or credit union.

Just a suggestion.
