War has already started so stop protesting
Special Forces and CIA are and have been in Northern Iraq for some time. We have airstrips available for our use already staffed with US soldiers. We are in Northern Iraq already! We have over 100,000 troops poised on the Kuwaiti, Iraq border ready to attack.
We are prepared to deploy troops through these outlets. Bombing of Iraqi targets in the no fly zones has been stepped up. Not just surface to air rockets being targeted but surface to surface as well. Looks like war to me.
Preperations are under way. There are 80,000 Kurdish soldiers in Northern Iraq.
We don't need the Turks to let us in. Boycott them as well as the french.
We fly in as much weaoponry as we can to the Kurdish forces in Northern Iraq . Let them perform the same role as we had the Afghan Opposition play in Afghanistan. Overwhelming air superiority and a significant force of Special Forces Soldiers. The Turks and the Jordanians are going to at least give us fly over permission. We can get a significant amount of gear in the region fairly quickly.
The Iraqi's are weak. We don't need mass columns of armoured divisions to defeat them. This will be quick regardless of the method.
There is speculation that we may launch an operation to enact regime change in Iraq as soon as next week.
When it happens it will be over quick.
Once we positioned ourselves to attack we forfieted any easy political way out. But we don't need a way out. We are doing the right thing. I believe the US should stand firm and flex it's muscle. Who's next? is my motto. We Are The SuperPower.
If we don't police this world who will. It's going to cost us all but we have to stand up to the plate this time. Rogue nations should never be allowed to develop or possess weapons of mass destruction.
The capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is good news. One by one these slimy maggotts will be captured and either executed or sentenced to a life of total isolation in a maximum security facility. And one by one we will take out these Rogue nations.
Support our Troops, CIA, and FBI.

The regular army might be week but the Republican Guard and the Special Republican Guard aren't. No mater how strong and well trained we are it isn't going to be easy.
PS:
Spey,
You're the scary one.

Re: War has already started so stop protesting
In the first war the republican guard offered little problem and now there's 33% less of them. As long as we don't engage in an urban environment, they will provide little resistence. Then when Baghdad is surrounded we let the non baath resistance move in. And then the real work begins.

Re: War has already started so stop protesting
The reports from defectors are that many of the Iraqi soldiers already have their white flags made. Though part of me wonders if that is disinformation...
Time will tell.

Covert assassination(s) would save a lot of head aches & $'s wouldn't it........
We can declare war and spend billions of dollars destroying then rebuilding Iraq and in the process kill several thousand people but it is against the law to shoot just a few selected individuals.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Those of you who have lived through JFK jr's assassination, you know why Prez. Ford signed that executive order banning assassinattion of foreign political leaders. I think it's still in our best interest to abide by it, eventhough it doesn't make much sense when we have people like Saddam.

Re: War has already started so stop protesting
Speyfly, I have been labeled as scary many times and I don't understand why. With my medium build 5ft 7in frame I do not seem like much of a threat. I guess it is my passion for my beliefs that scares people. I will never be a follower. But that attitude is what made America what it is.
Straydog, I did go and try and enlist with the army. Unfortunately being 38 years old I was not given much of a warm reception. I hear that the Navy reserves cutoff is 38. I am looking into that now. If that doesn't work out i'm looking into ways that I may be able to help the families of soldiers deployed. Anything I can do to help my country.
I just beleive that the way the world is now, with the US being the only SuperPower, we can't afford to back down. We have to take this opportunity to prove our strength. I don't promote us going out and invading countries for the purpose of conquest. But Iraq gives a legitimate theater to display our power to the world. Saddam is a criminal and therefore will be removed. End of story. Live with it.
And if anyone thinks that power is not important. You are very wrong.

We just don't know how long we'll be in this position of power, so we need to throw our weight around now while we can. Tomorrow may be too late.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I think you have the right attitude and the strength to become a great military leader. You should consider this very little known program called STG OCS. It stands for Straight To General Officer Candidate School, and it's designed for guys like you who are true patriots and are qualifed under special circumstances to become four star generals in four weeks.
Don't fret about your dimunitive size. Many great military leaders such as Napoleon and Eisenhower were little men. But consider getting some 6" booster heels. Remember that the most important thing is your "Never Wrong" attitude and the desire to show the world your power, whether they like it or not.
Gen. Franks has had some personal issues, so he'll be pushed aside before we push into Iraq. So this will give you some time to get yourself ready to take over. Good luck!

Re: War has already started so stop protesting
Trophy,
Do you have more information on Straight To General Officer Candidate School?
Maybe I can get through it in time to take over Central Command.
On a more serious note. If given the opportunity, I would not hesitate for a second to march into battle in Iraq with all of the brave men and women that are getting ready to do just that.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Now THAT'S the way to show your support of our troops. I'm not in agreement with many of your posts HMBF, but I tip my hat to you for offering meaningful support for our troops instead of a bumper sticker.

Re: War has already started so stop protesting
someone said -- "Who's next? is my motto. We Are The SuperPower"
Funny, I wonder how many times that's been uttered through history? The Mongols, the Romans, the Ottomans, Napolean, the British, Hitler, and on and on.
Aspirations of empire ultimately lead to downfall, every single time.
