Default Wallowa Lake ??????

I asked this on another page and no replies, maybe the trout guys can help me out. Are there any crawdads in Wallowa Lake worth trying for. Buddy and I leaving in AM, wondering if I should throw in some traps. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.

Thanks, BA

I wouldn't hesitate to try. I would drop my traps between the marina and the mouth of the river.

I've caught them there.

BTW, I have a top secret photo of a HUGE kokanee from this year. Absolutely the biggest Koke I've ever seen. I know I have caught ocean coho that were smaller. I'll see if I can get the o.k. to pass it on to you.

Good luck!

I remember back as a kid, family catching some 19" class kokes out of Wikiup and others that broke us off in nothing flat. With size have heard come out of Wallowa, sure hope I can get away with 6 lb line. Would love to just get at least one 20" fish. Picked up the dad traps this PM, have some shad in the freezer to use for bait, so much to do, so little time. Report to follow Thursday night.

Yes they are there, and in pretty good numbers. Last summer we put a trap on the west side of the lake and the next morning it was full

Weighed at the marina at Wallowa Lake, its on the webpage listed a few posts earlier.

Last week a 24 inch, 6 pound 4oz Kokanee was caught, almost breaking the State record... For three years running, ending in 2002, State Kokanee Records have been caught right here in Wallowa Lake (6.7 pounds and 26").

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Wallowa Lake...............good bye Flaming Gorge! Still a long drive from Roseburg but not as far as FG. Thanks for sharing! That's how dreams are made. Looks like I'll be changing a few of my plans so I can fish that lake this summer.

Oh, and its not me that caught it... and I don't even know who did. Not saying yea or nay to the weight either, just putting up what was listed.

Regardless, its a piggy, and I wouldn't mind catching a few.

Brush Ape... how did you fare?

Hi Twitch, posted my report on another new Wallow Lake thread. On my digital scale our biggest 22.5" fish went 4.3 lbs. A 21" fish went 3.3 lbs, didn't weigh any of others in that class. If that fish was 24" I have no doubt it went 6 lbs, pictures do not do the fish justice, they are pigs, thick and well...........you get the idea.
