Default Howard Prarie or Lost Creek Lake?

Me and my little brother-in-law want to do some fishing for some big trout. We are tired of the little fish fingers. lol. So we are trying to decide on either Howard Prarie or Lost Creek. And what lure would you recommend? We will be trolling btw. Thanks!

If you can swing the couple hour tow I'd go to Diamond. If you fish Diamond you'll figure out you need to troll your gear shallow(2' - 6') or you'll weed up. Lost Creek was good early spring for 14" to 16" but haven't been for a month or two. Haven't heard of a good report from Howard or Hyatt but that don't mean there not there.

I have been fishing Lost Creek, Howard Prairie, and Hyatt. Lost Creek slowed down for me after mid-April. Still lots of fish but they are smaller. Howard has been off the hook. Most of the the fish have been 12-13" with many 14 1/2 to 15" fish as well. We have only picked up one over 16" so far. Memorial Day weekend was a little slow but we have been averaging around 40 fish a day for the whole boat (catch and release) up to then. Hyatt has been a little slow for trolling. We average around a dozen fish per trip. Most of them are 10-12" but we get a few a day that are 16-18" and THICK! For Howard I have been doing the best on a red wedding ring behind a Ford Fender (Willow Leaves and Cowbells have been working but not as well for some reason) and tipped with worm. I have been using the same set-up at Hyatt, but am doing best with a green wedding ring. Hope this helps and good luck.

It's been a looonnnnngggg time but we always did well on big fish in Howard on a little frog flatfish with a small piece of worm. Can't imaging it wouldn't still work. Good luck.

I fished Howard Prarie ALOT while in school at Southern Oregon, we seemed to do better when we trolled with the lead core line...ford fenders & wedding ring tipped with a worm.

So we went trolling around the entire lake. I decided to go with the "School of Minnows" and a flat fish. It was hillarious! As soon as we left the "No Fishing" zone of the marina I let my line out and within 30 seconds I caught the first fish of the day. All in all I caught 7 fish in 5 hours. My little brother-in-law caught his on the way back. It was funny. His pole slammed into the water (he was useing a light gear set up). We thought he had caught the biggest fish of the day. It was a little 3 inch bass. lmao. It was a good day for me!
