Since we all know that the only real recreational boat is a jet boat, I'll be say'n' June 25th, out of either Depoe or the CR

I don't get why Depoe gets the short end of the stick..........

But my guess would be with Dan. Probably a southern port July 4th

Depot Bay is right next to Lowes Harbor

It will be Saturday June 20th, Coho opener, Depoe Bay. Tuna have died on this opener before. One of my Juna Tuna came from a poor Coho opener with Bait Boy; 1 coho and 1 Albacore that day....

Depoe has skills...I can't spell. Nalu is too smart to waste time and fuel early...same for Marty and El Shaddai...do I think a Striper is going to do it...nope.

Won't be a Grady either...unless Misty Dawn gets a wild hair down south.

Who's willing to put on their big boy pants and bring home NOT the glory but the madness that will follow when the first silver bullet slaps the deck! It's not who catches the first fish, it's who starts the fire for all of us. Of course catching the first fish doesn't suck for those of us who care.

When we know "they're here" (said in the creepy high pitch voice) everything changes...for the better!!!!!!

I think the NW wind will set in about 2 weeks from now. And stay like that for at least 4 weeks. Big boy pants or not .... no one fishes in 30+ kt winds.

July 19th, a few days after the wind stops and I get a coat of wax on the boaterhome to make the blood rinse off easier.

Eaglecap says the 27th out of Tilly

We fished the hill out of little Italy for butts on friday the 29th. Skunked! 1st time ever out of tilly...The water was 58.1 and a clear greenblue color. Sounds like the butts moved shallower and cooler .... And warmer water has moved closer. I'm going to guess with Eaglecap.. Sooooo, I say 27 june 2009 out of Garibaldi...

I don't want to be first, but I don't mind at all being next....

There have been years when the tuna highway has passed over points south of the CR grounds and we had tuna a few weeks prior to others. Could happen again. 57.3 degree water hanging out there.

then again. I don't need to be the first one to catch a fish. Good things come to those that wait.

June 27th. CR Den.

It could happen before June 20th..

The big Hydra Sport ("Bad To The Bone" as she is named) has a 600 mile range and will be running out of Little Italy.

You will need a flat ocean to do that in a day!
So we expect a report Friday evening on how the 125.70 x 45.30 is fishing ?

If you head south the 126 x 43 looks interesting but who is looking at that stuff already anyway!

I looked at your slip Del, it was empty. Must already be out chasing Charlie? It's got to be wet first, to get any stink on her decks. If any boat in our fleet can reach them and return in the same day..it's definately you!

It came back to the valey last fall and just when I thought I had everything just right I added more gizmos to it...

Some for running at night and some for fighting big fish...as well as the AED to be ready when we land that first blue fin.

It now has a center rigger, Flir night vision, swivel rod holders for my bent butts, 5 rod holders per side and 5 across the back...these are not rocket launchers but rod holders.

Oh and as for how far it will go in a day...I came in from 60 miles out last September in 1 hour and 15 minutes on a smooth ocean and that was not full throttle...

And it is ready to roll and will be in it's slip within the next few days.

And it is ready to roll and will be in it's slip within the next few days.

Okay, I think the rest of us have just been tarred and feathered.

Del, I'm down here in Cabo giving everyone a head start! Milt is rigging the boat this week-end so when that plane lands the next stop is south beach marina.

I have seen the light!!!! When "Bad to the Bone" went by my slow boat, it was just a blur and seconds later all I could see was taillights. That boat is fast. Generally all you see is on Del's face as he goes by and Weddy just hanging on for all it worth.

Hey Del, I know it's early in your boat's life, but you just let me know when your ready to move on to big and better, and i'll be there to buy it! With how Tuna Dog was dialed in and ready to go upon purchase, I don't think i'll ever purchase another boat... unless it's from Del!

I'm really liking how this year is shaping up compared to last years early season...

We're getting close. Tuna Highway is under contruction, and should be within a lat/lon near you soon!

Edit: Interesting how the mass of 15deg water is north of 40 compared to 2007, yet they're not quite connecting yet... Not sure what it means, other than the heart of warm water is closer this time this year, than it was in 2007...

I hope the old Tuna Dog is working well for you. I take great pains to make sure a boat is rigged right and with good quality materials and electronics. That boat served me well...I wish you well with it..

As for my next boat...I already have it picked out.

It's the 41' center console version of my 33 footer and it comes with triple 350's..

It's probably a year or two away before I jump up to it.

You guys would all just about choke if the first one came to an Arima!
Unfortunately I am laid up sick with diveriticulitis and high as a kite on pain killers. I can't even climb into my boat right now. And walking from the helm to the stern to grab a rod would be an adventure. Thank god for modern medicine. I have to eat lots of bananas.
So I will vote for Tracker to catch the first. maybe 70 miles out? Just nuts enough and fuel efficient enough to give it a shot.

Tillamook Buoy posted 62 degree water today....My guess is 24th of June from Little Italy unless Dick puts a long range trip together on Secret Island then all bets are off. Definately Little Italy, that tuna highway is lining right up. Forget about trying to catch halibut and let the south wind blow.

Dick is on safari and I have halibut this weekend, then I have to be out of town for 4-5 days. After that........... let the insanity began.
