Default Coat-it questions

Couple of questions about Coat-it that I couldn't find in any of the searches.

1. Has anyone used it on a riveted hull? I used Gluv-it on a previous rivited hull and I said "never again" as it cracked badly. Seems like maybe Coat-it has more flexibility? That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

2. Can anyone see any issues with applying it upside down? I will be able (while doing the hull in halves) to get good access by tilting the boat port/starboard.

3. Will it hold over paint or should that be stripped?

Thanks,

I did my 14ft rivited Sea Nymph 2 years ago and striped it to bare metal with a 4" grinder and a cup brush and even bought some acid etching solution at west marine, and It was great for the first season with no leaks at all. But now it has some pretty big patches that have cracked and fallen off, some 4 inch square or bigger. It still dont leak but I dont think I would use it again if I could do over.
I almost went with Gluvit at the time but it was twice as much I wondered if it would have come out better with it. Sounds like you say no go on it too.

Good luck wish I could help but coat it is not your answer

Hey thanks, I don't need to put it on all that bad, was hoping it would just be more convienient and durable than paint. Sounds like it won't be. Sorry to hear that the Coat-it cracked off.

I can only imagine, when I tried to remove Gluv-it years ago, seemed like paint remover would only soften it. Since Coat-it seems to be more durable, probably harder to get off as well.
