Default Intro/Awesome Testimony

Hello Ifish,

I know its customary to introduce one's self with an opening fishing story but I though I would start here.

My wife's Grandpa recently passed away at 74 after battling colon cancer for just over a year. We were really close to him and it was a difficult time to say the least.

Well, a couple days before he passed the hospital let us just take him home with no nutrition or meds (he was rejecting food and it was making him suffer even worse).

He couldn't talk at that time but he was trying to tell us something so we gave him a marker and a piece of paper to see if he could write what he was trying to say. Lot's of tears at this time.

Instead of writing anything he draws a picture of an eagle flying over some mountains. He has always been a tremendous artist and the picture came out better than most people could draw on their best days. It was pretty amazing that he could still draw such a beautiful picture when he couldn't even talk and was about to pass away.

The family decided to make a copy of the pic and put it into the program for his graveside service. About 300 people got to see the eagle that he drew and there was a little insert telling the story about how this was the last thing his artistic hands drew.

Grandpa was in the Army so they presented the flag to Grandma and began to play Taps. Just then a huge bald eagle flew overhead, circled back and landed in a tree literally 50 yards from the service. Once the song was over the eagle simply flew away.

300 people witnessed this and every one of them had the picture and story that Grandpa drew. It was a true blessing from God and one that I will never forget.

I was talking to a guy that was there and his perspective was pretty interesting.

He said when the eagle flew overhead that all the Christians were like "Praise God, what a blessing" and all the ones that don't know God were like "Wow, that's weird..."

Grandpa was one of those guys that got saved very early in his life and years later, in his death, he is still able to let God use him to reach people.

I have been able to tell this story to many people and it has opened some doors to be able to really witness and teach.

GREAT STORY!!!! I too have goose bumps.

My dad loved to waterfowl hunt........I thought I was crazy when just as taps was finished at my dad's funeral a small flock of Geese did the classic fighter jet fly by..........The good Lord takes care of us!

Great story!!!!!

I would really like to see the drawing. I too am in awe. This eagle flew over just before a 21 gun salute on Memorial Day. Look close its there. Thank you for sharing your story, and welcome to ifish.

Great story! The bible speaks of a dove coming down from heaven and landing on Jesus as a picture of the Holy Spirit (John 1:32)..... possibly your wife's grandfather's was in the form of an eagle? Not trying to be weird about it...I just know that our God is awesome!
