Default Stevenson / Wind River 5-27-09

An unfortunate BLANK again for me. Darn it anyway.

Started out at 0700 from Stevenson. Fished outside the Ash Lake culvert with no luck. Worked that shoreline pretty hard. Tried a few points in current.

Had some friends along so we headed up to check out the Wind River outlet. Tried a nice looking rocky cove just outside railroad bridge on the Wind with no luck.

Even tried trolling for salmon for an hour before the bumpy ride back to the launch at 2PM.

Bummed about no fishes again but at least a got a few last time so I know I'm not completely stupid.

Question for all you multi-bass a day guys --- Is fishing better if I head further East (The Dalles / Celilo Lake) or should I be able to pull that many fish from Stevenson and just need to learn my tactics a bit better?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

The fish should be near current in about 5 to 10 feet of water. With the spawn mostly over for the females they will be hard to catch for two weeks. NEVER GIVE UP! Some one said that be for. Ok most of you know this by now but if fishing is slow and the day as not your best, Keep a positive attitude and remember one bite can turn a bad day into the best fishing day of your life. I cant tell you how many times fishing was very tuff. I have taken people out on guide trips and after an hour or two with out a bite they kind of give up. And that is the time a monster bass hits the lure and their head was not in it so they missed or lost the fish of a life time. I have gone three hours with out a bite and in 30 min I landed three fish over 5 pounds.
For small mouth the key is keep moving and understanding the time of year will help you find them. P.M. sent

A guy/gal should be able to bag a nice limit anywhere above Bonneville on most days in the spring. There is a lot of good water in that area, it is definitely not necessary for you to drive to The Dalles to have a banner day out on the big C.

I was out of Cascade Locks last weekend and it was tough for sure though. Post spawn city. Don't get discouraged, just co fishing and explore new water, I guarantee you will have a good day soon if you do. It is inevitable. don't get me wrong, the Dalles and Celilo pools are awesome, just not necessary, if all you want to do is have a good day of SMB's.
