Non Fishing Related.

Looks like it found it's way to the proper board now.

Did'nt know about the plastic in the micro thing, Thanks for the heads up. Funny, I was just cleaning the micro this morning and wondering if the radiation is doing anything to our bodies. Go figure

Estrogen is also received transdermally from all sorts of external sources. These are called Xenoestrogens. These are fat-soluble and non-biodegradable in nature. The major sources of these Xenoestrogens are pesticides, detergents, petroleum products, plastic products, cosmetics, even spermicides used for birth control in diaphragms, condoms and other similar products.. So think twice when you drink your hot coffee or tea in that plastic or styrofoam cup from the convenient store on your way to work. What ever you do, DO NOT heat your food in plastic cookware. All of these contribute to the estrogen dominance and have been linked to birth defects in both humans and animals.

There were a few comments about the effects of estrogen dominance which extend beyond birth defects, it appears estrogen dominance in women has many negative side effects.

Ive heard that microwaves can cause cancer, but Ive also heard that heating your food in plastics is more of a health risk due to the above findings.

I recall a report on a study of female infertility and how doctors would attempt to fertilize eggs outside the body which in many cases was not a problem to accomplish but doctors could not figure out why the process worked in a test tube, and not in the body.
It was soon discovered that the female patients lacked a specific element of estrogen but how they discovered this is quite interesting.

They used plastic pitri dishes and beakers for the lab fertilizations which introduced the estrogen to the "mixture" required for the egg to accept fertilization. Plastic! As the study progressed, unfortunately fertile eggs where placed back into the donor, only to result in serious complications such as birth defects and death.

Now Im not saying you'll get pregnant if you eat from plastic containers, but it appears the study of plastics as food storage has advanced to show other serious health risks which include cancer.

It's probably a good idea to avoid buying any strongly reactive foods in plastic containers -- soda pop with all its various acids comes to mind, chiefly. Remember folks saying Coke in bottles tasted better? Very good reason for that - glass is virtually inert, plastisols can leach into sodapop.

The plastasols are reactive. Plastic is not inert. They can also leach into your foods - especially when heated as mentioned above.

A short article that's always stayed with me was from an industry trade journal around 1979. Industry was whining that they had to keep changing the plastic formulation as various ingrediants were found harmful. What was chillling was the industry response that they could simply stay ahead of the Federal regulators by changing quickly to new untested substances - as in new but as yet unproven carcinogens. Pretty scary!

That is an old wives tale. It is not true. There have been several articles about this on the internet in the last few years.
