Default Blood Knot for Leader on Hi-Vis??

So I use hi-vis line... my eyeballs can't see the regular stuff!

I've been researching this section as I'm new to bass fishing and it sounds as though a leader is a must.

This is fine... but I'm wondering what knot would be the best to tie the leader to my main line. Particularly if it's best to go with a really long leader as some have suggested (5' or more). At this length, you'd have to reel in the knot that connects the leader to the main line... no? If so, wouldn't the knot interfere with casting (I'm using a baitcaster of course).

I'm currently running 15lb p-line (cx hi-vis) and though was considering dropping to a 10 or 12lb, think I'll stay with the 15 just in case I travel somewhere that has bigger largemouths.

Anyway, thanks for the info!!

im all about the uni-uni knot. I personally think it blows the blood knot out of the water. Bill dance always uses hi vis braid tied to a leader. Go for it! But practice the knots first before you hit the water!

With the uni-uni knot... do you only reel up to the knot itself, or can you put a long leader on there (5' or whatever)?

I'm concerned about the knot catching on the eyes of the pole. i hate rats-nests. LOL

i also use the uni knot, i havent had it fail as of yet.

as far as leader length, i would imagine if you wanted to you could tie on just about as long as you wanted, but with the uni, you can trim it down pretty well as to where it wont get caught in the eyes of the rod...

I personally use a uni-uni and have had no trouble with it getting caught in the top eyelet. Clip the extra ends of the line far down enough and you should be worry-free.

I've used a uni with braid and fluoracarbon as well as ultragreen mono for a couple of years. I use about a 10' leader. That way I just trim back after the line gets nicked usually not far aboue the hook or lure.

One caution. I've had that knot break on the hookset several times. Tie the two knots carefully, pull them together solwly lubricated with a gob of spit, and then check the knots (with a magnifying glass if one is available). I've found that if I test the knots and they survive a strong pull, it never breaks (at the knot) on hook set.
