Sounds like you had a good day.
I made only my second trip for Kokanee yesterday. Took my daughter and a friend. We certainly didn't "slay" them but it was much better than the 1st trip that's for sure.
We went to Yale. We landed 12, lost 3 at the boat and another 5 or 6 on the way in, probably about 4 hours or so fishing.
I had done tons of reading and research on setups and lures, etc. After spending way too much $$ on gear and my unscientific experiment yesterday, I have determined it matters less what you use and more where you put it. I set up my buddy w/ a brass and silver dodger and an orange hoochie, my daughter with a UV pink sling blade and a pink/silver Kokanee Pro/Wedding ring, and I used a silver sling blade w/ a silver apex. All right out of the package with adjusted leader lengths, tipped with shoepeg corn, and we all caught the same number of fish. The silver apex and the pink/silver wedding ring had more hookups and losses, but we all landed the same.
I will say this though, it was much more enjoyable using the dodgers instead of the ford fenders, which I used the first time, as there is soooooo much less drag on the gear and you can really feel the fish on the lightweight rods.
The only other thing I did was soaked some corn in red kokanee fuel, which they seemed to like. In 3 instances I put plain white corn on one hook and red corn on the other of the two hook setups. In all cases with a fish landed or hooked and lost, it was the red corn they targeted. This could easily be coincidence though and actually the first fish caught on the silver apex was with plain white corn.
Oh well... it was a beautiful day on the water, except for the wind, but it was FUN.
