Picture Posting - Runtime Error
I recently went to Windows XP Pro as my OS. Since then every time I try to upload a pic to ifish I get a runtime error. Suggestions?

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
Check the size of the pic by right clicking on it and then choosing properties. If the file is over 100K it will error the way you described. Other than that you're on your own.
Oh yeah the pic's name can't have any numbers,symbols or spaces in it and can only be 8 letters long.

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
Nope - I resized it to under 100K and the name is less than 8 characters. I get an error message that says "A Runtime Error has ccured. Do you wish to Debug?
Line: 18
Error: 'document.form.lendes' is null or not an object

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
And the path can't be too long. I just recently upgraded to XP Home and had a problem and e-mailed Jennie;
Quote:
If you try to upload and it fails, because of size, or file name, or the
path is too long, or whatever, if you try again, you need to rename the
file something else.

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">I tried everything else and it didn't work. The file path was too long. I set my XP up for multiple user's so the path was something like;
C/Dan/MY Documents/Cowlitz Coho/23lb. Coho.
Copied the pic to my destop and then it was more like; C/Destop/23lb. Coho
That did the trick! Shorter file path.
Thanks Jennie!

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
Thanks, DBD. I'm still seeing the Runtime Error message, but I was able to upload the pics.

Thanks. Your comment on the length of the path seemed to do the trick. I’m still getting the runtime error message, but at least the pic uploaded.

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">Maybe Jenny might want to add that file path length problemo to the upload pic's instructions. Or at least I didn't see it there.
Have a feeling that might become more frequent as more & more folk's use XP with the extra username in the file path?
Don't have a clue on the run time error.

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
The error you are getting is a javascript error and really is not related to your OS other than that your browser setting may now be set to show it. If you do not want that alert to come up everytime there is a javascript error got to tools/internet options on your browser menu bar, then select advanced, uncheck the box that says "Display a notification about every script error" and check the box "Disable script debugging". Now the only thing you will see if there are javascipt errors within a web application is a little alert icon in the bottom left corner of your browser. These options are really for development purposes.

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
Thanks CB. That seems to do the trick. I knew I had read something about a setting in internet tools and this issue, but could not remember what it was.

Re: Picture Posting - Runtime Error
Since I got XP, I've been getting the runtime error, also.
After extensive research, I see others running this program get the same error and there is no fix available except mine!
If you are using Internet Explorer, the latest edition, go to Tools, Internet options, Advanced, and check "Disable script debugging" Ha! No more errors! :smile:
