Default Hagg Lake Friday 5/22

I plan on fishing Hagg on Friday the 22nd. No boat so i'll likely be fishing the bank. Hopefully I will be able to beat the weekend crowds.

Checking the stocking schedules, it appears that in the last 3 months they have stocked over 50,000 fish. Wow... but anyone know why they don't put some bigger ones in there? All the stockings seem to be the 8" legals.

So i've heard that the little cove right after the dam is a good bank spot as well as around Launch C... any other areas that people know about (and are willing to share?)

Do a Hagg Lake iFish search and you'll see some big brooders that were caught there just after the opener. Hagg has a fair amount of holdovers too.

Ah.. I just see the stocking schedule lists the 8" legal size there while some of other lakes have listed bigger ones stocked also. I knew there were some holdovers but wasn't aware they put big brooders in sometimes also.

There are plenty of big fish. Now could be a good time to fish for them. The small fish are pretty pesky but they're putting up a pretty good fight. If you can catch a release 10 small fish I would bet you'll end up with at least a nice hold over somewhere in the mix. My wife and I caught ten fish in about an hour trolling last week. We kept 3 fish between 14" and 16".

The south bank accross from A ramp trolling very slow about 3 to 6 ft off the bottom in about 20 to 30 ft of water. A night crawler threaded the proper way. Only 1" to 1/2" of worm tailing the hook. They don't get freebees from me.lol
