Default Re: Hooking up to be a member on ifish

If someone is having a problem with registration, I would appreciate having a private conversation about it. My e-mail is pete@mcube.net

The most frequent problem we encounter is that folks have spam filters set up which seem to catch e-mail from ifish.net. There is no way for me to see what someone's spam filter is catching. I also encounter problems with verizon addresses. For some reason, verizon translates addresses into code, so what might start as "john.smith@verizon.net" becomes something like "vK332Ai12@verizon.net". For security reasons, we will only send someone's password to the address they used when they register. Imagine if we were to send a password to someone else! Would you want someone impersonating you on the board?

The other part of the process is that bad addresses result in bounced mail. If an address is invalid, I get a notice back that tells me the message could not be delivered. I haven't had any bounced messages lately, nor have I told anyone they have the "wrong" address ... we send the mail to the address provided during the registration.
