Default Striper fishing on Delta - What to use?

I've never fished for stripers... but am visiting Isleton CA this weekend and thought I might give it a go (he lives right on the delta).

Not sure what I should bring (or buy since I probably don't have what I need for this type of fish) in the way of tackle.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It's been quite some time since i fished thar...i mostly used Pileworms or a small baitfish i caught in the canals by the irrigation valves we called a bullhead.

Sometimes i also used Jigs or cut Anchovies.

Best of Luck fishin' Bro.........................

There are over 1,000 miles of navigable waterways in the Delta. What I would get to catch stripers there is a guide. There are numerous tackle shops in the Delta where you can get info on what, where , and when.

Super Spooks, throw them early in the morning or late afternoon... money. Bucktail jigs work well.

I fished the delta in November. Real good success using small shad (3-4 inch) for bait. I'm not sure how easy it is to obtain shad for bait. I was with my wife's cousin and we stopped at a combo gas station/bait shop that he knows about. I would have no chance of giving you directions to this place.

We had lots of action at the junction of the Bethel Island canal and the main channel.
