Detroit Lake
Hey,
I was what the general consensus is for Detroit Lake's bass fishery?
I've read online that Detroit Lake has some Largemouth in it, but is this a case of one or two fish, or are they plentiful? I didn't see anything online regarding Smallmouth there, but have any of you guys caught some there?
Fill me in! Thanks,
-- Chase

Re: Detroit Lake
An odfw employee told me that there were largemouth, smallmouth, punkinseed & bluegill in there. These fish were found doing one of their net surveys. Also heard rumor of a few being caught. If I was going to target Bass I'd head to Foster or Green Peter instead. Probably won't be long till the population of those fish in detroit makes them targetable.

Re: Detroit Lake
I'm not against bass, but I'd sure hate to see them in Detroit.

Re: Detroit Lake
I was amazed but according to odfw;
http://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/easy...te/detroit.asp
they do list:
Fisheries: ODFW releases 125,000 legal-sized rainbow trout between April and October, along with fingerling rainbow, kokanee and chinook. There are also brown bullhead, largemouth bass and pumpkinseed present in the reservoir.
We camp there 2-3 times a year with the kiddies and at all the Park Ranger shows/forums they really emphasize the lack of bass in the lake since they devour everything.
Never caught or seen any myself so I'm hoping (and praying) it ain't true.

Re: Detroit Lake
If you look down in the water mid day when the sun is up right around the little fishing dock at the campground you can see dinky little bass. biggest ones were like 3 inches tops. The old hardware store in detroit used to host pictures of fish from the lake and i remember seeing a few bass on the wall but not many or any big ones.

Yeah I saw that as well, and I wasn't sure.. I've got a friend that works at the docks there so I figured I'd ask.. Free boat rentals is cool with me! ;D
