Show me a baby sitter who pays taxes

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">I and most everyone I know use state-certified daycare. It ain't cheap, and it's all claimed as income.

Went home for lunch today. Daughter had a half day schedual (those days are a complete and utter waste of time). Today was science day in 8th grade BTW. Power went out so the PE class was dumped into the science class and instead of teaching they all just sat around and played games. Now that is expensive babysitting Geek.

The schools better figure out how to make better use of the school year for each and every day our children are there. Knock off this half day garbage and teach our children.

C&E...the cosmos just bumped again...I agree with you, half-days are just a waste of time. I remember as a kid, I just spent most of the morning getting pumped up about getting half the day off!!

Unfortunately, 1/2 days are used to fill contractual and legal quotas.

Half days + more homework= me teaching my daughter biology,algebra, and history.
I dont complain, she does because it isnt the way the teachers teach.

And who's going to be buying the burgers?? Oh yeah, we won't have to cut back a burger a week because 28 didn't pass. Yippee!!

Portland Public Schools cutting an additional 9 days from the school year due to the Measure 28, making the total now 24.

Please, nobody complain about how dumb our graduates are these days. We're doing it to them.

Hmm, no vote saved the average oregon taxpayer $12 bucks a month.

How much is the 9 extra days of child care going to cost?

A friend of mine gets 5 bucks an hour per kid..

8 hrs x 5 dollars = $40

$40 x 9 days = $360 per school year.

FOR ONE KID!

I wonder, were there tax cuts to the MATH class budgets back when 28's no-voters where in school?

So in other words, its stimulating the babysitter market, helping people to earn some money they wouldnt otherwise have access to.
