Fever of 104?
Isn't that a bit high?
David, my son, is really, really sick. I'm worried about him!
Has anyone ever had a fever of that high? David has taken Tylenol, and it's still 104!!!

Re: Fever of 104?
Seems high to me. If it doesn't come down soon I'd take him in to see a doctor. :depressed:

Re: Fever of 104?
Good move.
One April evening a couple of years ago I woke up at 3am with raging fever of about 104. When my wife finally got up at 6 I had her take me to ER. I could barely move and had to have an orderly come out to the car with a wheelchair. I won't go in to detail about the crap I was coughing up. They checked my temp during triage and it was 104.8.
I spent 6 hours in ER getting every test known to man and they never did figure out what it was. The next morning I was fine. Weird.
I hope he's OK. Kids usually bounce back fast.

Re: Fever of 104?
I had David take a luke warm bath, instead of the doc, after talking with the nurse. The clinic was having a lunch break, and... anyway... I have the temp down to 103 now....
May still have to go to ER, but so far, so good.
Thanks for the ear.

Re: Fever of 104?
Glad to hear he is doing better, Jen. A loving mother beats tylenol every time.
Keep us posted.

Re: Fever of 104?
My daughter has spiked over 105. As our first kid, it freaked us out!! She's done that several times, and each time it's been just fine after the repeated Tylenol/Motrin switching. My son hasn't been over 101, but obviously just as sick as my daughter was at 105. Different kids do different things.
Just do that "Mommy" thing...stay on it, he'll be fine. Probably be worse on you than him!!
Good Luck!

Re: Fever of 104?
Yeah, David always spikes pretty high. What was really scary was Andrew, 105, and febrile seizures.... Several times! Now that can shake you up a bit!!!
David is better this morning, only 102.5

Whew!
That was making me sweat!
Glad it has come down some.
Bet he isn't feeling real great. Hopefully he can sleep it off today, eh?

Re: Fever of 104?
as kids, my brother and i would regularly hit 104 temperatures. after a while, the emergency room folks told my parents not to bring us in unless we were going into seizures. when i'm a parent, i can't say that i'll be very comfortable with my kids running fevers that high but it never seemed to affect me.
