Default Ifishers have any spare time?

I am looking for ifish volunteers to do such things as help newer computer users post pictures, or learn how to post on the board.
I would like to form a sort of committee of people who I can randomly e mail letters that I receive, so I can delegate them out.
I want to be helpful to everyone, but I only go so far.

If you can help, please post here!
Thank you!
Jen

Remember, on this committee, you should enforce the ifish rules, so if you don't agree with them, best probably not to be on this committee!

Things like telling them pictures should be small, and easily downloaded... They should be no more than 500 pixels wide, so that it doesn't make pages scroll...

Remind them that off color humor is often scrutinized and that we discourage pile ons on other people...

It's pretty easy, just try and encourage them to keep the "peas".

(Imagine Whirrled Peas!) I love that one!

Thanks for donating your time! I'm going to make up a page of Ifish Consultants and I'll put eveyone on the list that wants to be! Plus, I'll keep an e mail list of you guys, and simply forward you e mails that I get.

YEE HAW! This will be a great help to me!
THANK YOU!!!

Jen

Wait... please explain further... I wouldn't mind helpin newbies post pictures and stuff like that, but I don't want to be some sort of "junior moderator" or somehow be responsible for keeping others from being irresponsible.

More details on what your looking for please.

Doesn't the infopop UBB have an "expert angler" function? Is that what your looking for?

Should there be some minimum (Ifish related) expierence requirement? I know that I didn't know how to do a lot of stuff after 50 posts or even 100. I certainly didn't understand the "unwritten" rules of conduct for quite a while. By that I mean sponser status rules, not piling on to morons (one of my least favorite and most broken rules). Proper use of sarcasam - Stuff like that.

What about a new forum, for The Good The Bad and The UG, where it is just a help forum?

Maybe something like Jennie's Cyberfish School or Ifish Cyber Consultants. Yes ma'am were from the ICC........

Can you have posts that always stay at the top of the board? If so we could create some with tutorials/faq's that would always be easy to find.

OK, here is the first delegated job. First person who says, "I"ll do it" does it!

Can someone make a list of people, with number of posts, so I can sort by experience, and their e mail addresses?

These e mails WILL be on an ifish web page, so it may get spammed. I'll try to do it another way.... Let me think.. OK.

Anyway, I'd love it if you would do this! Someone?

Also, I am about 5 projects behind, so be patient! I have to put up the next guide contest... Win a trip with Kelley Short, and do some other little changes for some people.

See ya!

I believe there is some value in experience on ifish, particularly in understanding the unwritten rules and protocol. That said, while I'm fairly new here, I am fairly computer literate - and there are a lot of others much better than I at this stuff.

I like what Geek did (naturally I would, we're related). He saw a problem and found a solution and then wrote up some instructions that a novice could follow. Since what works for one person may not work for another, why don't some of us who have offered help just follow Geek's lead and come up with a "solution" to one of the problems we see time and time again.

We can look 'em over, tune 'em up a bit, and make them available. And those of us who want to help out a little more actively can get on a list that's easily accessible for novices.

Uh....something like that anyway.

OK, I've signed UG up for moderator duty. If ANYONE breaks a rule, then UG is responsible, OK?

I love it! Thanks, UG!

In all seriousness, no, you don't have to be ifish police! I just need some help, because I get lots of , "How Do I" letters...

You know, what would really help, is to have me, or others write tutorials or trouble shooting letters we could just copy and paste and send out.

I need to keep track... Most people have questions like, "I can't figure out the upload" or... "I lost my password", and don't realize that there is a lost password function.
Lessee... what else? Oh... How do you post, how do you use avatars, stuff like that. Pretty basice.

We should get together a more specific FAQ for ifishers. It's my next project... Until then, I'll collect these e mails, and start sending you guys some sample e mails.

UG, you are in big trouble now! I can't wait to yell at you when someone breaks a rule!

Why is it no one likes to be a moderator? It's really not that bad, really it isn't.

Anyway, much thanks, and if anyone wants to write a little "how to" on anything, please do!!!

Jen

Please let me help as well. I'd be glad to work on a set of FAQ pages and emails as well as answer questions regarding "how-to's."

I'm glad you're finally asking for some help. Ifish ought to be fun for you, too.

Don't beat yourself up KF85, it is the software that has the problem.

I would help, but looks like you have a bunch of volunteers already.

Your group could be called "The Buoys" you help keep Jennie and ifish afloat!
