Hello all,
I typically do not come on to this forum as I do not fly fish that much.

However, I wanted to come here to voice a very serious concern that I have that involves a very prominent fishery in Central Oregon. My concern is regarding East Lake. I know this is a very popular lake for fly fishers. I am a lure fisherman, but even I have fly-fished East Lake and still do on occasion when I get bored with lures. Here is the thread from the trout forum regarding this:

I am not the type of person that is a protester or a picketer. I feel like I am more of an informer. I feel that this could have a very serious affect on this fishery and I do oppose it. The amount of fish that could potentially be wasted is very high. Unless I'm planning on eating the fish that night, I am a very big C & R type of fishermen (as many of my friends are).
This fish derby is supposed to help support a project in La Pine. I am not opposed to helping out projects to help make a community better. I am opposed to how they plan on raising the funds by causing a detriment to one of our most precious resources that the State of Oregon has to offer.
Do what you will with this post. You will see on the attached thread of how I and several others feel about this. These are only our opinions. You can choose to agree with them or not. That is your right.
East Lake is a very special place to me as I'm sure it is to many of you. I want this fishery to thrive like it has for generations to come. I think this fishing derby will severely hinder that. If you share the same concern as me, please post on the attached thread. If you'd like, feel free to send me a PM.
Best Regards,
Brian
