Default A question about bottom painting?????

Hey guys, I am going to be painting the bottom of my 25ft Cruisers Inc. and I am looking for a little info. I plan on using either Pettit Ultima SR 40 or the Interlux Micron CSC since the boat will be in and out of the water. The biggest problem I have is how to support the boat off the trailer while I paint??? The bunks obviously cover a large portion on the hull that needs to be painted. I would greatly appreciate any tips on getting the boat safely off the trailer to paint. I have never painted a boat this large before but I am capable and have all the tools needed for proper paint prep.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Recently helped a friend sand blast and paint his 26 footer very heavy boat. We did not remove the boat all the way from the trailer instead we jacked the boat up with a couple of bottle jacks from the rear first and blocked the boat up just enough so we could unbolt the rollers from the trailer. It made it much easier to work on the boat with the rollers out we just removed one at a time. then did the same to the front. It was a bit of a hassle working around the trailer but was not that bad. Of course if you had a fork lift you could block the back of the boat and lift the front and pull out the trailer completely but we just felt a little more comfortable with part of the boat being supported by the trailer.

Where did you place the jacks and how did you spread the load so that you did not damage the hull? I wonder if I could rig something up to lift the back of the boat with my tractor enough to reach the areas under the bunks?

we placed the jacks at the very rear outside of the hull of course we used large 8 by 8 wood beams stacked for support also on his trailer we could remove the whole roller assembly with just two bolts that were attached to the trailer. I think if you could lift the rear of the boat with your tractor with a strap or some other method that would work just as well as the jacks. Supporting the boat was really no big deal just make sure you are on level ground ann just jack it up a few inches off the trailer so you can remove one set of rollers at a time if you feel more comfortable.
