All kinds of bills get thrown into the hopper in Salem. So far over 700........they expect about 3,000  bills will be introduced before its over.

Some bills may try to make beer drinking more expensive but i read where one bill will help preserve our hunting traditions, such as they are . The bill would allow youth hunters to ride in the back of open pickups without the otherwise mandatory restraints. Guess they need to be able to move from side to side to make those tough running shots?

Actually GSA, the youth in the back of vehicles does make sense, because often, the pick-up vehicle has 4+ hunters it's picking up...and they all can't ride in the front. We already have laws covering shooting from a vehicle or improved roadway, this legislation would not change that.

As for the beer....If we're going to slap a sin tax on cigarettes, it should be on beer as well. But a 1000+%?? That's a little carried away!

No, it wouldn't change those rules but it would enable people to more easily break them. In Oregon it is legal to have a loaded rifle in a vehicle - if it is legal for juveniles to ride in the back of pickups unrestrained, there will be a lot more road hunting than otherwise. Not to mention the odd kid tossed out now & then when ol' Dad swerves due to dropping his beer.

Don't mind me, I'm naturally cynical in the mornings.

Yeah, but we can't legislate out stupidity in this world, can we...

I'm kinda strange this morning myself. Waiting for a doctor's appointment. I have a gland under my jaw that swelled up like a golf ball last night...kinda panicked me, but didn't go to the emergency room. Still the same, hurts like he!!

Gee, I was wondering where the money was going to come from when the cigarette smokers start quitting. And I thought it was going to be fattening fast food next.
