So far all that has happened is a small pilot Run. Does having a pilot run necessarily mean that there will be a follow up main run for sure? Afterall, some years the smelt simply don't show.

I always keep a back-up 10 or 12 packs, just in case.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I guess i'm #2 to blame, beacuse like HC, i'm all ready to dip for my first year too. :depressed: I have faith though....they'll be here. They just had to make a pit stop for all the females at the "powder room" and they're just running a little late

Have faith!
They'll be here!

As that report I posted after talking to the biologist said; sometimes they don't materialize untill March.

I was doing an inventory on my remaining smelt in the freezer. Came across a couple of packages on the bottom dated March 16th, 2002 from the Cowlitz. Still have plenty of time for them to show.

That's it. I also bought a net and planned to make a go of it for the first time this year.

No doubt about it, too many newbees scared 'em off.

Hey thanks brshooter, that's the best news I've heard on the smelt running in the cowlitz. I've been carrying my net & waders in the truck for almost 2 weeks now, just waiting, & hoping there will be news of them running again. Thanks man, I now have renewed hope.
