The internet and YOUR phone #
Try this. Go to Google.com and enter your phone number in the search engine (use this format, including area code 555-555-5555. You may get your name and home address, or if you are lucky, no hits. Do it for anyone you know. If you do not want this info out there, here is the link to have it removed Google phone removal .
I did not get anything for my phone number, but my in-laws were posted.

That's funny, my number did not get any hits, but my in-laws number is there. Maybe it's an in-law thing??

I wasn't in there, and neither was my mother-in-law. Guess I'll have to to fix that for her.

Re: The internet and YOUR phone #
Well, if your number's not unlisted, so what?? If it is unlisted(or supposed to be), then it's a big deal.

Re: The internet and YOUR phone #
I found myself on google and in the phone book. I guess if somebody wants to call me they can use the number printed right along side about a million other people in the Portland phone book.
If I could only keep the solicitors from calling. Texaco has called me 7 times in the last 6 days You would think I would have that crack in my windshield replaced with all the window people calling me. Family photos opportunities, charitable organizations, home loan opportunities ........ I guess I might kinda understand why some people get an unlisted number.

Re: The internet and YOUR phone #
I would like to see a law which requires telemarketers to NOT BLOCK their name and number from caller ID. I have caller ID, and 75% of the telemarketer numbers come up as "Unknown Name - Unknown Number". Unfortunately, so does anyone who uses a calling card (normally), so I just don't want to disconnect them.

Re: The internet and YOUR phone #
I signed up for the Oregon No Call List about a year ago. It took about 3 months for the new lists to be printed & distributed, etc. and for the calls to stop - but now I get ZERO spam phone calls. ZERO. Well worth the initial $6 and $3/year thereafter.
