Default Carp on the fly?

Hey all, kind of a newbie to Ifish and this part of the country. Would I be permanently barred from the flyfishers section if I asked about flyfishing for carp in the area? I flyfish for bass quite a bit and every once in awhile would hook a big ol' carp and before long I found myself intentionally casting to them. Would anyone be so kind as to steer me toward some good carp water that could be accessed on foot?

Almost any of the back water on the Sauvie Island Wildlife Management unit has Carp. If I was going to go on foot I'd just drive to the end of Rentenaar rd. on the East side and hop over the dike or hit any of the water on the west side.

I think people use mostly nymphs.

Have fun & WELCOME!

Maybe try using a fly designed to look like KOI pellet food......

Couldn't resist.
Please post photo's of your trophy catch after you go.
Good luck

Since you're in Gresham, if you head east on I-84 you can look at the ponds along the freeway, mostly east of The Dalles.

Boy, oh boy! As well as carp fight on my light spinning rod I can only imagine what a battle they'd be on a fly rod!
