Is it true that there is a New York Congressman (black) that says that every white person in America should be slapped by a black person?

It is supposed to be on their show tonight. I don't know the whole story, yet. But if it's true? :shocked:

It's on at 6:00pm so I'm gonna watch (can't resist a train wreck)!

If it's true, it means there is a politician who has figured out how to get a LOT of free press.

His name is Charles Barron and he is actually a city council member. Wow, I thought you had to be white to be a racist. This guy is unbelievable. He starts off by saying that not one single white person died in the Civil war because that person believed that slavery was wrong. He then went on to say that all white people owe black because our prosperity was based on the wrongs of our fore fathers (slavery). He is absolutely sure that reparations will take place. First in New York City because 50% of the City council is black and 65% of the population are people of color. Therefore, they will simply vote themselves the reparations. Furthermore, a black person in America should be able to walk up to a white person and slap them for 200+ years of oppression. The white person should simply take it because they know that the whites deserve it.

Pathetic and intollerable. I wonder if the Irish would like to slap anyone? How about the Itallians? Chinese? Certainly the "Dutch" have a complaint.

This stuff just has no place in America. It is shock value politics and journalism. Just plain stupid. The guy must have never listened to MLK.

Why is there such a double standard between what black public figures can say and get away with and what white public figures can say and NOT get away with? If a white councilman said he would like to slap black people he would be fried and kicked out with such fervor it would blow your away!

Take our last local example. When the school board person Derry Jackson made the disparaging remarks about jews he caused a minor controversey, but he is still on the board. Do you think a white person would still be on the school board if they made a remark like that against black people?

Also take sports figures. I remember Charles Barkley stated publicly that "he doesn't like white people"... if a white sports player stated that he doesn't like black people there would be a huge protest and outcry. Who was that baseball player (John Rocker??) that made some comments about minorities and he got so flayed in the public eye and the media that he eventually got kicked out of baseball.

I don't know... I am just wondering outloud. I hope I don't upset anyone because that is not my intention.

Does anyone elso wonder why this is the case??

I taped the interview on HandC and this guy is possessed!

I thought Sean Hannity was going to go at the guy. Even Colmes was getting testy in the area of reparations.

DB their is certainly a double standard. To ignore a person of color's hatered of others is PC. To grille and kill (a caucasion for example) over a comment is just fine. Absolutley outrageous in my ignorant opinion.

I realize that many immigrants have gone though hell coming to America in search of a dream. Some by choice and some by force. Racial tensions will always be a part of this melting pot call the USA. Not because we want it to happen but because we are different. Different cultures, beliefs, politics, desires, needs, colors...and so on.

We have made great strides to reverse the ideas that we are NOT created equals. We are the same as men and woman but we are different because we are independant thinkers. Our ideas are not the same so we pass judgement on others because of Who, where and how we grow up and are taught.

People like this fellow are dangerous. Louis Farrakan is dangerous. They have a very twisted outlook on life and feel that they are entitled to everything and anything. Jesse Jackson has made a career out of extortion. He is the king of extortion. Certainly we can expect others to follow.

Hopefully people like this will eventually be shut down and thrown out. I have no use the David Dukes, Jesse Jacksons of this world. We all need to just get along and be REAL PEOPLE.
