Well with all the recent threads on picture taking of wild fish out of the water, I decided to post a few of my pic's of both hatchery and wild fish.
The first one is of a hatchery steelhead I caught on the Clackamas River:
The second one is of a wild chinook I caught on the Salmon River.
I kind of felt bad about throwing the wild steaks on the grill but I did go to confession later. < Big Grin>
The third pic is of a respectable sturgie that I caught from a "zipperlip" location < Big Grin> and I am not sure if it was wild or hatchery, but I didn't see an adipose fin!
The fourth picture is of a nice halibut I caught fishing one of the charters out of Depoe Bay.
I believe it was probably a wild fish because I'm not certain if they are growing any hatchery halibut.
This next picture is of a Nestucca hatchery springer I wanted to eat soooo bad, I went under water to get her removed from a snag while someone else held my rod!
These next two pic's are the only two pic's I have on my computer of wild fish to be released.
The first one is of a wild Kalama coho still in the water with a BW-29 in it's mouth.
Obviously exausted.
The next pic is of a wild summer run chum salmon that I caught in the Siletz River and yes, that is me holding that wild fish out of water.
I don't know what I was thinking (the year before last) but my little adopted buddy was taking pic's of me fighting the fish all throughout the fight.
Maybe I wanted a pic of a not-so-common fish?
Maybe I wasn't thinking?
No big deal but I wouldn't do it again whether it was a not so overly common wild summer chum caught in the Siletz, Nestucca or Three Rivers.
So shame on me and I will not "knock" others for posting a pic of a wild fish ever again on ifish but it is something I personally don't have a need or understanding for.
As I said, my buddy was already taking pic's all along throughout the fight.
So ya see TY, I do fish but not very much.
I have other priorities like my mom that is not getting any younger and my daughter that is getting older too fast for example.
I'm not as good a fisherman as you (I can tell by your pictures), but I do catch plenty salmonids to satisfy me, my friends and family that are the benefisheries (sp) <Big Grin> of my generosity.
I do however have several hundred pictures of myself with hatchery coho the last 3 years since I bought my first digital and PC, caught drifting and bobbering eggs, throwing spinners and plugs and less pic's of the other salmonids combined, and lot's of pic's of those native ling's and bass I caught off the rocks and via boat.
I could have added quite a few pi'c of nates to be released but my goal was to release them as quickly as possible and my digital didn't figure into that equation.
So to each their own and from now on when I see an interesting thread title and I click on it only to see some nate that is going to be released, I'll just simply and quietly hit my back brouser.
My apologies for offending any wild nate picture enthusiast!
Dano (The Nate patrol- Big Grin again)!
