I took my 3 yr. old out to one of our local lake this morning, try and get get him in on some of the little guys they stock. Well we got there and the gentlemen next to us was telling us how they are about to stock it with some of the big triploid trout.
My boy was saying Daddy i want to catch a big fish. I had to explain to him they might be a little harder to catch when they first get put in but if you be patient you will get one.
So the fish truck came, the look on his face when he seen all of thse fish coming out of the hose was just priceless. They only put in 450 of the trploids, but they had put in over 2,000 of the little ones the week before so i know we had a pretty good chance of getting in to fish. So after about an hour after they put the fish in everyone switched over to bobbers and worm or spinners. I kept to our powerbait on the bottom.
One of the guys next to us said we would have a better chance at them if we got off of the bottom. I told him that was ok i will just keep it out there for the variety. By this time my boy was getting restless. I told him watch your going to go off and play and i'm going to have to catch the fish. Then POW the rod doubled over, I yelled for him and said there he is you better come reel him in. He manhandled that fish all by himself until he got to the bank. Then I had to help a little.
We got him up on the bank and my boy was so excited he kicked over his chair, the pole almost went into the water all while he was trying to grab the fish at the same time. I t was definatly the biggest he has ever caught at a lake 17 in. 1.25 lbs.
I told him he caught it, he cleans it and he eats it

. He was willing to clean it to, but i had to do it. Not quite old enough to work a knife yet. And on the BBQ he went. We are eating him as I write this.
I'm so proud of him.

I'll post pics in a little bit.
