Default Dog help!

Me and wife are looking @ getting a dog. First dog was a lab, pretty good experience except lots of holes and chewed up stuff. Now we are looking @ getting a CORGI. Does anyone have one of these types of breeds. They seem nice enough, and pretty rugged for a smaller dog. Just wondering! thanks

Eric

I know some Corgis. Not bad for a mid-size. Ears too big, legs too short ... pretty friendly and calm (this varies with the individual though, some are too barky for me.)

I can't understand why anyone would have a dog that isn't a Labrador retriever! Goldens are great too, but way more HAIR.

 I concur with Lost Sailor... Lab's are such great dogs. I just got a black lab puppy (male) from Sunnyview Labrador in Salem. They are pretty expensive at this breeder, but they are such great dogs. My last lab I got from Sunnyview also, and he was so incredible. I lost him to cancer last August. :depressed:

Before I got my current lab puppy (Grady) I was looking at a dog I saw on Animal Planet called a Flat Coated Retreiver. They are like a golden retreiver but they are black like a black lab and there hair is not quite as long as a golden. Here is a link to them. Anyway have a great day everyone!

My buddy has a corgi/rottweiler mix  , how that came about I can't even begin to imagine , but it seems to be a pretty good dog so far, she's about 7 months old now.

My sister has two corgi's. One is a timid little thing that runs and hides whenever someone comes over and the other one is outgoing and a maniac. The crazy one
has destroyed two couches, several blankets, an arm chair and several doorways
in her house are missing the bottom 2 feet of molding. There are "chewers" in every
breed. I'm a lab fan (I have a choc, and a black) and couldnt imagine every owning
a small dog breed like the corgi. Not that the corgi is a bad breed, I've just had big
dogs all my life and to go to a little dog....it would seem more like I was buying my
wife a toy. Both my dogs chewed for the first 2 yrs and havent chewed since. I can expect a couple holes each spring in the back yard but thats it.

There is a corgi mix 6 month old puppy at Multnomah Animal Control in Troutdale right now. Saw him/her this afternoon.

Labs are the best. You can skip the chewing things apart problem by getting a great adult dog from the humain society. Those dogs would love a second chance .

How do you say no to these faces??

Yeah, its a lot of hair...but so much love too. Goldens and Labs are great!! I'll never own anything but. You cant take a Corgi jogging, or to the park to play fetch...and you dont have to worry about an eagle or a hawk swooping down and carrying your Golden away....especially mine!
